The PRIN (Research Projects of Relevant National Interest) program is intended to finance public research projects, with the aim of promoting the Italian national research system, strengthening interactions between universities and research institutions in line with the objectives set out in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and encouraging Italian participation in initiatives related to the European Union's Framework Program for Research and Innovation.
To this end, the PRIN program funds two-year projects that, due to their complexity and nature, may require the collaboration of multiple professors/researchers, whose funding needs exceed the normal availability of individual institutions. Depending on the nature of the project, the research team must consist of at least two research units belonging to several different universities, institutions, or institutions.

Within this framework, the Project titled "Biomass-derived alcohols and polyols valorization and use by dehydrogenation/hydrogenation reactions promoted by bifunctional and proton-responsive homogeneous catalysts (ALCOVAL)", jointly submitted by Dr. Luca Gonsalvi (CNR-ICCOM) and Prof. Rita Mazzoni (University of Bologna) was submitted and successfully approved for funding under the PRIN 2022 scheme by the European Union–NextGeneration EU under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.1, by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), whose financial contribution is kindly acknowledged. Some of the results obtained the Project are discussed in the present Webinar, that is organized as part of the planned dissemination activities.
