Dr. U Kei Cheang

Dr. U Kei Cheang

Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China;
Dr. U Kei Cheang is currently an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 2015, where he was a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), NSF Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT), and NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) Fellowships. Since joining SUSTech in 2017, Dr. Cheang has led an independent research team focused on the development of micro- and nanorobots. His innovative work on robotic microswimmers was recognized with the UNESCO Netexplo Top 10 Award in 2016. Dr. Cheang has earned multiple prestigious talent awards at the national, provincial, and municipal levels.

Department of Engineering, University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, Aversa, Italy;
Francesco Arcadio received a Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Information Engineering from the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Aversa, Italy, in 2018 and 2021, respectively. He has been a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” since 2021. His current research interests include the design and fabrication of optical sensors, optical fiber sensors, chemical sensors and biosensors. He has been a Co-Founder of the spin-off company “Moresense srl”, Milan, Italy, and he is also a Co-Founder of the spin-off company “Ratio et ars srl”, Capua, Italy.

Dr. Christos Tsamis

Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos", Athens, Greece;
Christos Tsamis received his Physics diploma from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and his PhD degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Institute of Microelectronics (now Inst. of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology) at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” where he is currently “Director of Research”. He leads the group on “Energy Harvesting and Autonomous Sensors”. His research interests focus on mechanical energy harvesting (triboelectric, piezoelectric), 3D-printed thermoelectrics, tactile and pressure sensors, flexible electronics, and micro- and nanofabrication technologies for sensors and electronic devices. He is/was Scientific Responsible and/or Coordinator for several National and EU projects on the above topics and has participated in several others as a key researcher. He is the author or co-author of over 200 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, conference proceedings, and contributions to international conferences. He has edited 3 Conference Proceedings Volumes.

We are delighted to have you join us today for this exciting session, where we will explore recent advances in micro- and nanofabrication technologies and their applications in areas such as biosensing, triboelectric devices, and biomedical microrobotics.
