In 2010, he received his PhD from Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu, Finland, specializing in environmental toxicology and human health risk assessment. In 2011, he has accorded the title of a Certified European Registered Toxicologist ‘ERT’ by the Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology EUROTOX. In 2014, he has granted Adjunct Professor in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Dr Rautio has been working in the topic of Arctic health and well-being since 2006. Her main research interests are on One health and climate change, Indigenous health and wellbeing, and research ethics. She is PI in several research projects funded by EU or national fundings and acting as a national key expert in the Human Health groups of the AMAP and member of SDWG of the Arctic Council. She is a board member of IUCH and Chair of NSCH, and a board member of the Arctic Society of Finland (2021-).

Shanshan Xu is a PhD candidate at the University of Bergen, Norway. Her research career has focused on the respiratory and environmental epidemiology. She has participated in several research projects about maternal environmental contaminants exposure and birth outcomes, endocrine disrupting chemicals, air pollution exposure and lung health. She is interested in statistics, education, and environmental policy.

Jon Øyvind Odland, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Global Health at NTNU, Norwegian University of Science and Technology and a specialist in GYN/OB, environmental medicine, and epidemiology. He has worked on mother/child programs in more than 20 countries, these days focusing mostly on the Arctic, southern Asia, and Africa. His studies have mostly focused on the impact of the environment and infectious disease on fetal development and pregnancy outcome. He has a scientific production of ca. 200 peer-reviewed papers and is now involved in a new study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers, the healthcare system, and the general population in southern Africa.
