Welcome from
the chair
Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to the 4th International Electronic Conference on Microbiology (ECM 2027), which will take place between 7 and 9 April 2027. We aim to bring together researchers and experts from around the world to discuss recent advances in microbial sciences and microbiology.

Microorganisms play fundamental roles in ecosystems, human and animal health, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. Rapid progress in microbial research continues to deepen our understanding of microbial diversity, host–microbe interactions, pathogen dynamics, and antimicrobial resistance. This conference will provide a valuable platform for scientists to present their latest findings and exchange their ideas, and it will foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

The conference will feature oral presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions that encourage scientific exchange. ECM 2027 will showcase the latest research on microorganisms, covering a diverse range of topics, including the following:
S1. Gut Microbiota and Health and Disease.
S2. Foodborne Pathogens and Food Safety.
S3. Antimicrobial Resistance: Mechanisms and Control Strategies.
S4. Emerging Infectious Diseases and Pathogen Dynamics.
S5. Soil Microbiomes and Microbial Ecology.
S6. Microbe–Plant Interactions.
S7. Biodegradation and Environmental Microbiomes.
S8. Microbial Physiology, Metabolism and Evolution.
S9. Viruses, Phages, and Mobile Genetic Elements.

Participation in ECM 2027 is free of charge for both authors and attendees. This conference provides an excellent platform for researchers to present their latest findings, engage in discussions, and participate in online Q&A sessions.

The conference committee will review all submitted abstracts. Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to contribute an extended abstract for the conference proceedings and a slide presentation of their work. Outstanding contributions will be recognized through conference awards. Authors will be invited to submit a full manuscript for potential publication in a Special Issue in Microorganisms with a 20% discount on the APC.

I look forward to your participation in this exciting conference and encourage you to share your latest ideas and research in the field of microbiology. We hope that this conference will provide an engaging forum for sharing knowledge and advancing research in microbial science.

Kind regards,
Dr. Nico Jehmlich

Dr. Nico Jehmlich

Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research- UFZ, Department of Molecular Systems Biology, Leipzig, Germany;Dr. Nico Jehmlich is a researcher in proteomics and environmental microbiology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. His research focuses on how complex microbial communities function in natural and host-associated environments. By integrating metaproteomics, stable isotope probing, and systems biology, his research reveals the metabolic activities and interactions of microorganisms in complex ecosystems. Dr. Jehmlich’s work contributes to advancing microbiome research and addressing key questions in environmental and microbial ecology.
