Prof. Dr. Oliver Fiehn
Session chair
West Coast Metabolomics Center, University of California, Davis, USA
Prof. Oliver Fiehn has pioneered developments and applications in metabolomics with over 510 publications to date with a current h-index 137, i10 index 503. He started his career as group leader at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. Since 2004 he is faculty member in the College of Biological Sciences (MCB department) and Professor at the UC Davis Genome Center, overseeing his research laboratory and the satellite core service laboratory in metabolomics research. In 2012 he became the Director of the UC Davis West Coast Metabolomics Center, supervising 25 staff operating 14 mass spectrometers. Since 2021 he has collaborated with ThermoFisher Scientific to focus on large cohort studies and exposome analyses using advancements in informatics and advanced mass spectrometry. In public outreach, the West Coast Metabolomics Center organizes two metabolomics professional courses per year, holds monthly public webinars, has a YouTube channel, a newsletter, and invites international scholars for research visits between 3-24 months
Dr. Reza Salek
Session chair
School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, UK
Dr Reza Salek, PhD, is MedTech & AI Tranlational Programme Manager at the University of Cambridge’s School of Clinical Medicine, UK. He brings two decades of leadership in metabolomics, data standards and scientific technology. He helped establish MetaboLights, founded and chaired the Metabolomics Society Data Standards Task Group, and co-coordinated COSMOS activities to develop metabolomics data standards and resources. He provided scientific and technical coordination for PhenoMeNal, a scalable cloud infrastructure for reproducible metabolomics analysis. Previously, he led computational metabolomics at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in France and served as Vice President, Head of Application Development at Bruker in Germany.

Dr. Yunping Qiu
Session chair
The Einstein-Mount Sinai Diabetes Research Center (ES-DRC), Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, USA
Dr. Yunping Qiu received his Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China, in 2008. He is currently a Research Associate Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His research focuses on the development and application of mass spectrometry-based metabolomics technologies to investigate metabolic alterations associated with human diseases, particularly diabetes, cancer, and infectious diseases. With over 20 years of experience in metabolomics research, Dr. Qiu has developed a wide range of analytical methods and protocols, including sample preparation and extraction, mass spectrometry-based metabolite profiling, data analysis, and mass spectrometry imaging. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
