Prof. Dr. Siomar de Castro Soares holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Uberaba (Brazil), a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in Genetics, as well as a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). During his doctoral studies, he completed a one-year research fellowship at the Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec), Bielefeld University, Germany, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research in Bioinformatics at UFMG. He also served as Senior Bioinformatics Researcher at the Official Central Laboratory of the Brazilian Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Since 2015, he has been a Professor at the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Brazil. His research focuses on molecular genetics, microbial genome sequencing, comparative genomics, pangenomics, genomic plasticity, pathogenicity islands, virulence factors, phylogenomics, molecular epidemiology, reverse vaccinology, and bioinformatics software development using Perl and Java. His work integrates genomics and computational biology to investigate microbial evolution, host–pathogen interactions, and the identification of novel targets for diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccine development.
