Giovanni Esposito is full professor of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and Head of the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Napoli Federico II. In the framework of several national and international projects, he has leaded the training of early-stage researchers through both education and research in environmental technologies, mainly focusing on developing, modelling and engineering innovative biotechnologies for energy and resources recovery from waste and wastewater. He has co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in the environmental technology field, with more than 18000 citations and h-index 71 (Scopus source).

Paulo Santos has a position as an Associate Professor and currently works at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal. He is an integrated member of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE) research centre. His main scientific research fields are thermal behaviour, energy efficiency in buildings, and sustainable construction, with a focus on lightweight steel-framed (LSF) construction systems. He is the author of more than 250 scientific publications. He has nearly 4250 citations and 98,200 reads on ResearchGate (Berlin), with an h-index of 30. He has supervised 58 master’s and doctoral theses already completed within his research topics. He participated in around 12 funded European and Portuguese research projects and was the Principal Investigator of the Tyre4BuildIns research project. He was a member of the scientific committee and organiser of several national and international scientific conferences. He has reviewed, at the request of the editors, as a member of the journal’s scientific committee, 136 articles submitted to international journals. He is an Editorial Board member of 28 international scientific journals, having 1135 verified editor records. He is a member of TC14–“Sustainability & Eco-efficiency of Steel Construction” of the “European Convention for Constructional Steelwork”–ECCS (2008–present).
