Welcome from
the chairs
Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce the 2nd International Online Conference on Gels (IOCG 2026). This conference has been organized by the MDPI open access journal Gels (ISSN 2310-2861, Impact Factor 6.4) and will be held online from 9 to 11 December 2026.

The conference will provide an opportunity for scientists and engineers in academia and industry to present their latest research and to participate in discussions and exchange ideas to advance the development of materials with a three-dimensional network structure. The themes of the conference include the following:

  1. Science, supramolecular structure, and characterization of Gels
  2. Advanced multifunctional and stimuli-responsive gels and their applications
  3. Hydrogels, Organogels, xerogels, aerogels, and their applications
  4. Applications of gels in medicine, pharmacy, and healthcare products
  5. Applications of gels in agriculture and food science
  6. Applications of computational methods, AI, and machine learning in gel design
We would like to invite you to submit abstracts and participate in this virtual meeting of the interdisciplinary community to discuss the latest breakthroughs in fundamental science and technology of gels, such as hierarchical and self-assembled, self-healing, colloidal, polyelectrolyte, smart and stimuli-responsive gels, and their impact on food, agriculture, environment, medicine, and energy sectors. This conference will be a celebration of the contributions of Gels and will feature six awards given for best oral and poster presentations at the conference.

This event will solely be an online conference, which allows for the participation of scientists from all over the world without travel limitations. Participation in this online conference is free of charge.

We look forward to your participation.

Kind regards,
Prof. Dr. Esmaiel Jabbari

Prof. Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy

Reading School of Pharmacy, University of Reading, Reading, United Kingdom;
Prof Khutoryanskiy is a Professor of Formulation Science at the Reading School of Pharmacy, University of Reading, with a background in polymer science, pharmaceutical materials and drug delivery. His research focuses on the design and characterisation of functional polymers, hydrogels, nanoparticles and other soft materials for transmucosal, ocular, topical, gastrointestinal and wound care applications. He has a particular interest in mucoadhesive, mucus-interacting and antimicrobial systems, including hydrogels and polymer-based formulations that can improve drug retention, permeability, antimicrobial performance and therapeutic outcomes. His current work also involves the development of ex vivo and invertebrate models for evaluating the safety, efficacy and biological interactions of pharmaceutical formulations, biomaterials and wound care materials.
