Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd International Online Conference on Healthcare – Safe, Equitable, and Scalable Healthcare: From Innovation to Clinical Implementation (IOCH 2027), which will take place online on 14–16 June 2027. This event is organized by MDPI’s open access journal Healthcare (ISSN: 2227-9032; Impact Factor: 3.4).
Following the success of its first edition, IOCH 2027 returns with a focused vision on the future of healthcare systems and the practical translation of innovation into real-world clinical implementation. This year’s conference aims to move beyond theoretical discussion by highlighting research, strategies, and case studies that address how healthcare innovations can be safely, equitably, and effectively applied across diverse populations, healthcare settings, and systems.
The conference will be structured in five key thematic tracks:
S1. Co-Designing Patient-Centred Care Pathways for Diverse Populations
S2. Scalable Digital Health: Telemedicine and Hybrid Models of Care
S3. Clinical AI Implementation: Safety Metrics, Ambient Intelligence, and Daily Workflows
S4. Translating Health Equity: Structural Determinants and Global Care Delivery
S5. Systems-Level Healthcare Policy: Multidisciplinary Management of Multimorbid Patients
As a fully online event, IOCH 2027 offers participants the flexibility to join from anywhere in the world, creating an accessible platform for researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and industry experts to exchange ideas, share recent findings, and build international connections.
We warmly invite clinical and academic researchers to submit their abstracts. All submissions will undergo peer review, and accepted abstracts will be published online in Open Access format on Sciforum.net during and after the conference. Following the conference, all authors will also be invited to submit full-length papers to the Healthcare journal, with a 20% discount on the publication fee.

Meet Our Chair
Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia;Professor André van Zundert is an internationally renowned anaesthesiologist, visionary educator, and pioneer in patient safety, airway management, and regional anaesthesia. With over four decades of innovation, he has transformed anaesthesia practice globally, particularly in obstetric, regional, and airway techniques. He has authored 550+ peer-reviewed publications, 8 major textbooks, and 85 book chapters, achieving an h-index of 60 and over 16,000 citations. He is the supervisor of >50 students who obtained a PhD-Doctorate. His landmark contributions include the ideal test dose formula for epidural safety in obstetric pain relief, the segmental thoracic spinal anaesthesia technique, and global leadership in videolaryngoscopy and vision-guided airway techniques. He also led the development of the European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia (EDRA) and founded Wiki-Anaesthesia. Professor van Zundert directs translational anaesthesia research at the Queensland Brain Institute, focusing on the working mechanisms and reversal of general anaesthetics, and founded the award-winning Australia-first ‘Centre for Excellence and Innovation in Anaesthesia’. He holds professorial appointments across four universities and serves on national and international scientific boards. Honoured with numerous awards—including the 2024 AMA Excellence in Healthcare Award, ANZCA Medal, and 2025 Carl Koller Gold Medal—he is also a decorated military medical advisor and humanitarian. Professor van Zundert remains a dual-certified anaesthetist and intensivist, embodying his enduring belief: “a good teacher is also a good learner.”
