Alberto Figoli is Director of the Institute on Membrane Technology “Enrico Drioli” of National Research Council of Italy (CNR-ITM), Rende (CS) Italy, since 1st March 2019. He is President of the Territorial CNR Research Area of Cosenza, since 1st January 2021.
He is the Founder and Scientific Advisor of the Start-up Company WembraneX Srl (Italy), 2023.
Winner of Global Prize for Innovation in Desalination 2024 – Section “Beyond Water”, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) 2023.
He is involved in many international, European and National projects, as coordinator and CNR-ITM scientific responsible and/or participant. He has been invited speakers in many international Conferences and Courses. He is reviewer of several international projects with most prestigious Agencies.
He is author of more than 300 scientific papers and chapters published in international journals and 9 National/International patents on membrane technology. He is Co-Editor of 9 books and many special issues. Hindex (Scopus) 63.
Alberto Figoli is expert in the field of membrane technology, in membrane preparation and characterisation and application in environmental filed.

Dr. Alessandra Criscuoli is a researcher at the Institute on Membrane Technology “Enrico Drioli”, CNR-ITM (Italy) since 1999. She obtained in 1995 the MSc in Chemical Engineering (cum laude) and in 2000 the PhD in Chemical Engineering and New Materials at the University of Calabria (Italy). Expert in membrane operations, especially in membrane contactors applied to water and wastewater treatments and to water desalination, and in integrated membrane systems. Member of the Council of the European Membrane Society (2011-2014), with responsibility for Education and Awards. Chair of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering Section on Membrane Engineering (2025-ongoing). Member of evaluation boards and of international conference scientific/organising committees. Scientific responsible of research projects. Lecturer at courses on membrane operations. Co-author of 1 book on membrane contactors and of 120 contributions published in international peer-reviewed journals and as book chapters. Author of 2 comic books for children on membranes for water treatment and vapor transport. Editor of 5 books on membrane operations and water treatment and of journal special issues on membrane technology.
