Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd International Online Conference on Separations (IOCS 2027), organized by the MDPI journal Separations (ISSN: 2297-8739, Impact Factor 3.5). This fully online conference will be held from 19 to 21 October 2027, providing an accessible and inclusive platform for researchers, scientists, and professionals worldwide to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest advances in the field of separation science and technology.
IOCS 2027 aims to promote academic exchange and collaboration across the broad and rapidly developing field of separations. By bringing together researchers from diverse disciplines, the conference seeks to facilitate the dissemination of innovative research, encourage interdisciplinary cooperation, and advance the development of novel separation methodologies, materials, and technologies addressing current scientific and industrial challenges.

Registration and participation are free of charge, and authors will be eligible for a publication discount, providing an opportunity to further disseminate their research and enhance its academic visibility.

Meet Our Chair
Department of Sanitary Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdańsk, Poland;Prof. Grzegorz Boczkaj (Highly Cited Researcher 2023 (Clarivate), h-index: 69, >16000 citations) is an associate professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology (GdanskTech), Poland. He obtained a PhD (2012, with honors) in chemical technology (chemical engineering) at GdanskTech and a habilitation in the same discipline (2017). He is the leader scientist of a research group working on new developments in the field of environmental engineering, separation techniques, chemical engineering as well as analytical chemistry. He was a principal investigator of several research projects (in total above 3,0 mln $). Several projects were dedicated to studies on separation techniques, design and applications of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs), fundamentals and applications of cavitation-based processes, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), advanced reduction processes (ARPs), circular economy. He has published over 250 journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports.

Meet Our Speaker
Department of Chemistry, Democritus University of Thrace, Kavala, Greece;Dr. Athanasia Tolkou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). She is a Chemist, graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), holds a PhD in Chemistry in the field of wastewater treatment. Her research interests include wastewater treatment, municipal, industrial, and hazardous wastewater treatment technologies, recovery of nutrients (phosphates, nitrates), and removal of ions, heavy metals, and dyes from water and wastewater. Her scientific work has been published in more than 100 Papers in international journals, while she has published 22 Chapters in scientific Books (Scopus ID: 56149187400). She was/is the Guest Editor of 9 Special Issues, and she is a reviewer for over 30 international scientific journals (Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Mdpi etc). She has also participated in about 18 research projects related to her field. She has research experience at the Technical University of Hamburg (Germany), Laboratory of Water Resources and Water Supply and at the University of Insubria, Varese (Italy), Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences and at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), Germany, Mechanical Process Technology/Water Technology. She has also taught experience in the Department of Chemistry of the University Maria Curie-Skłodowska, Lublin, Poland. She took a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation to participate in a summer school (Lectures in Physics and Chemistry for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, emphasizing on Graphene and other 2D materials. Dr. Tolkou is President of the Scientific Department of Environment, Health and Safety at Work of the Union of Greek Chemists, and she is elected as Associate Member of the Chemistry and the Environment Division (VI) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Currently, she is Editor for the Environmental Science and Pollution Research (ESPR) Journal, published by Springer.
