Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to welcome you to Land 2027, the International Conference on Land, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 13 to 16 October 2027. The conference will provide an international forum for exploring emerging challenges and new directions in land research, bringing together perspectives on land systems, climate, biodiversity, governance, and technological change.
Land is closely connected to many of the challenges we face today. Climate change, biodiversity loss, urban growth, food and water security, land degradation, and the energy transition are all changing the way land is used, managed, and protected. At the same time, new tools such as GeoAI and Earth observation are giving us new opportunities to understand these changes and support better decisions.
Land 2027 will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students from different disciplines and regions. The conference will provide a forum to share new findings, discuss emerging challenges, and exchange ideas on land systems, urban–rural transitions, landscape ecology and architecture, renewable energy and spatial planning, land governance and socio-economics, soil health, restoration and biodiversity, agricultural land transformation, GeoAI and Earth observation, and carbon and climate.
We hope that the conference will encourage open discussion, new collaborations, and useful connections between science, policy, and practice. We warmly invite you to contribute your work, take part in the discussions, and join us in Barcelona.
We look forward to welcoming you to Land 2027 in October 2027.
Kind regards,
Conference Chairs
