Welcome to the webinar, "Recent Trends in Partial Differential Equations," hosted by the journal Mathematics (MDPI). I am Giuseppe Di Fazio, Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Catania, Italy, and it is my pleasure to serve as your chair for this session.
This webinar focuses on cutting-edge advances in partial differential equations. The presentations cover a spectrum of important research directions. The first talk investigates a class of elliptic reaction-diffusion systems, exploring their structural properties and dynamical behaviors. The second lecture addresses critical phenomena arising in elliptic equations governed by the fractional Laplacian, a core topic within nonlocal PDE theory. The third presentation discusses the existence of infinitely many solutions to problems involving the p-Laplacian operator. Collectively, these talks showcase key contemporary developments in elliptic PDEs, nonlocal equations and nonlinear variational problems.
During the webinar, we will hear from three distinguished speakers whose work spans elliptic and parabolic reaction-diffusion systems, critical phenomena governed by the fractional Laplacian, and multiplicity results for p-Laplacian problems. Professor El Haj Laamri from the Université de Lorraine will open the program, followed by Professor Raffaella Servadei from the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo, and Professor Giovanni Molica Bisci from Università San Raffaele Roma.
Each presentation will last for about twenty minutes, followed by a joint question-and-answer session at the end. I encourage you to prepare your questions as we go along.

Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania, Italy;Full Professor in Mathematical Analysis at University of Catania since 2007. Past teaching activity for Engineering, Physics, Computer Science—Pure Mathematics Students. Now also teaching to Mathematics students at "Scuola Superiore di Catania". Invited speaker and visiting professor at several universities: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Berkeley, Dayton, Madrid, Warsaw, KAUST, Abha, Bandung, Tokyo, Kyoto and several universities in Italy. Research is about Partial differential equations, especially regularity topics, Morrey spaces and integral operators acting between them. He has been a Mathematical Science Research Institute (MSRI) fellow at Berkeley and "Unione Matematica Italiana (UMI)" fellow.
Institut Elie Cartan de Lorraine, Université de Lorraine, France;El Haj Laamri is Professor at the University of Lorraine (France), where he teaches at Polytech Nancy and conducts his research at the Institut Élie Cartan de Lorraine (IECL). His research focuses on the qualitative analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations, with particular emphasis on elliptic and parabolic reaction–diffusion systems involving local and fractional operators. Some of his results have been published in leading international journals. He serves on the editorial boards of three international mathematical journals and is the author or co-author of seven textbooks.
Department of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Urbino Carlo Bo, Italy;Raffaella Servadei is an Italian mathematician and Full Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Perugia and her subsequent PhD from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Her scientific activity focuses on pure research, with a main emphasis on partial differential equations (PDEs), nonlinear and nonlocal fractional problems, and nonlocal operators. She has authored more than 60 scientific publications in international journals and is consistently included in Clarivate Analytics' "Highly Cited Researcher" ranking due to the remarkable number of citations her work has received.
Department for the Promotion of Human Sciences and Quality of Life, Università San Raffaele Roma, Italy;Giovanni Molica Bisci is a Full Professor (since 2/11/2024) for the SSD MATH-03/A—Mathematical Analysis at the Department of "Promotion of Human Sciences and Quality of Life" of the San Raffaele University of Rome. Since 16/12/2024 he has been Coordinator of the PhD Innovative Lifestyle Interventions for Health Promotion. He is currently coordinator of the Degree Course in Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence L-8. He received his PhD in 2004 from the University of Messina. In 2001 he carried out research activities at the University of Stockholm (prof. R. Froeberg) and in 2002 at the University of Valladolid (prof. A. Campillo). He was a researcher at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (2007–2018), Director of the INdAM local unit and, in 2016, a visiting researcher at the ICTP in Trieste. From 2018 to 2024 he was Associate Professor at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, again Director of the INdAM Local Unit. He has been a Highly Cited Researcher (2019) and has been included in the World's Top 2% Scientists List (Stanford University) since 2020.
