On Tuesday 29th November 2022 , MDPI and the Journal Medicina organized the 2md Webinar on Medicina entitled “ Progress in Alzheimer's Disease: The Alzheimer's Foundation of America Celebrates 20 Years”. This online seminar was chaired by Dr. Allison B. Reiss from the Department of Medicine, NYU Long Island School of Medicine, Mineola. This webinar was organized to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) with a special appearance by Charles J. Fuschillo Jr., president and CEO of the AFA. It brings together leading scientists and clinicians in the field of Alzheimer's disease (AD), each approaching the critical issue of improving the prognosis and preserving quality-of-life for persons living with the disease. This thoughtful exploration of state-of-the-art AD research covers basic foundational information on dementia, the latest developments in oxidative stress and mitochondrial function, the role of glutamate and the changes in connectivity that may contribute mechanistically to AD neuropathology. It emphasizes the need for global collaboration and education with diverse participation from our communities in order to achieve a breakthrough. We hope that you find this presentation thought-provoking and that you will reach out to us with your questions and ideas.
The presentations were followed by a Q&A and a discussion, moderated by the Chair. The webinar was offered via Zoom and required registration to attend.
