Join us for an insightful journey through the latest breakthroughs in redox active species. This webinar will explore the diverse roles of reactive nitrogen, sulfur, and selenium species in cellular processes, highlighting their dual nature as both damaging agents and crucial signaling molecules.
Leading experts will discuss how these reactive species are transforming our understanding of disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. Our speakers will showcase innovative research, such as photoresponsive nitric oxide-releasing systems for controlled modulation of reactive species in vivo, and the potential of selenotriazines for neuroprotection and Alzheimer's disease treatment.
In addition to the valuable talks, we will allocate time for an interactive discussion between the chair and the speakers, allowing for an engaging dialogue that includes insights and questions from the audience. Discover how advancements in redox biology are paving the way for new medical applications and fostering collaboration in this dynamic field.

The webinar "Recent Advances in Redox Species” provides an up-to-date insight into current developments, highlights and challenges in the field of biological redox regulation. Cecilia Battistelli discusses the latest developments in the field of Alzheimer’s Research and how selenium-containing drugs may benefit us thanks to their ability to control cellular pathways and, at the same time, modulate the intracellular redox balance. This is followed by a closer look at current NO research, with Gregory Giles enlightening the audience with photoactivated NO donors and an exquisite piece of nanotechnology.
Their talks are followed by an informative panel discussion moderated by Yaman Abdin, which addresses some sticky questions in the field of drug development. These include epistemological questions related to - the limitations of - in vitro assays and the use of models on the one side, and the economic obstacles encountered when moving from a discovery to a licenced drug on the other.
