Meet Our Speakers
Prof. Richard Gray
School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia;
Professor Richard Gray has been at La Trobe University since 2017, becoming Theme Lead (Healthy Peoples Families and Communities) in 2021. He originally trained and worked as a Mental Health Nurse at the Maudsley Hospital in London before training in Epidemiology and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropic Medicine. Subsequently, he has worked as a mental health services researcher focused on improving physical health outcomes for people experiencing mental ill-health, initially at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London and latterly at the University of East Anglia and La Trobe University. He is editor-in-chief of Nursing Reports and is actively involved in the open science movement. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
Dr. Maurizio Marchesini
Clinical & Preclinical Pain Research. Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Therapy Unit, IRCCS National Cancer Institute – Fondazione G. Pascale, Naples, Italy;
Maurizio Marchesini, MD, FIPP, is an interventional pain physician and minimally invasive pain surgeon with 20 years’ experience. He serves as Clinical and Preclinical Research Coordinator in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at the IRCCS National Cancer Institute “Pascale” (Naples). He has managed >8,000 patients and has extensive procedural expertise: >300 spinal cord stimulations, >50 DRG stimulations, ~2,000 radiofrequency/cryoablations, 75 intrathecal pump implants, >300 epiduroscopies, and 150 intradiscal treatments. He is FIPP-certified (2017) and an EDPM examiner for ESRA; since 2025 he chairs SIAARTI’s Section of Minimally Invasive and Interventional Techniques. He has participated in and coordinated university and postgraduate training pathways in Pain Medicine and contributes to national and international consensus initiatives. His scholarly activity spans neuromodulation, procedural safety, and oncologic pain, integrating clinical leadership with research and education. He has authored peer-reviewed papers and served on editorial and guideline projects.
Dr. Ngambouk Vitalis Pemunta
Department of Sociology, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria;
Ngambouk Vitalis Pemunta, PhD, is a medical anthropologist and Senior Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. His research focuses on the intersections of medical anthropology, public health, gender, and development. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed works (with more ongoing) on HIV/AIDS, reproductive and sexual health, gender-based violence, women’s land rights, global health governance, and climate change from an equity perspective. His scholarship spans Africa and Europe, exploring medical pluralism, health-seeking behaviors, and the interactions between biomedical and traditional health systems. With over a decade of international teaching experience across five countries, he is deeply committed to mentorship and knowledge-sharing. Dr. Pemunta also serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Sociology and as a reviewer for several international journals.
Dr. Giuliano Anastasi

Dr. Giuliano Anastasi (RN, MSN, PhD) is a nurse researcher and academic with expertise in mental health nursing, ethics, evidence-based practice, and the humanization of care. He holds a PhD in Nursing Sciences and Public Health from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and is Adjunct Professor of Nursing Sciences at the University of Messina. His clinical and academic experience spans acute psychiatry, vascular surgery, and nephrology, with research focusing on coercive measures, security technologies in psychiatric settings, and holistic approaches to nursing. Dr. Anastasi has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at international conferences. He is a member of international nursing societies and serves on several editorial boards of indexed journals, including Psycho-Oncologie, infermieristica journal, and Nursing Reports (Early Career Editorial Board). He is also the Vice-President of the Italian Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) and an active peer reviewer.
Prof. Janet Mattson

I am a Professor of Critical Care Nursing at USN, Norway. I teach and research mainly within the area of high technological care from diverse nursing care and medical education perspectives. My research mainly involves people's active participation and participation from a nursing and health perspective in a high-tech environment. I explore how technological development and digitization affect learning, health care, and health in everyday life, for professions, institutions, and society. Researching how technological development affects learning, health and health means I'm interested in interactive processes that take place in a high-tech environment for a longer or shorter time and what this means for nursing development in education, clinics, and homes.
