The Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research, Tel Aviv University, Israel;Ayala Lampel is an Associate Professor in the Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Israel. She earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology and B.Sc. in Neuroscience from Tel Aviv University. Following her doctoral studies, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC), City University of New York (CUNY), where she developed bioinspired supramolecular peptide materials, with a particular focus on melanin-inspired materials. In 2019, Ayala returned to Israel to establish her independent research group at Tel Aviv University as an Assistant Professor. She is also a fellow at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF Fellow). Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the ERC Starting Grant and the Nanomaterials 2024 Young Investigator Award. Her research group focuses on the design and investigation of phase-separated materials and biomolecular condensates for applications in drug delivery, biosensing, and catalysis. Ayala lives in Tel Aviv with her husband and three young children. She enjoys cycling to work, traveling, and painting.
