19th ncRNA Webinar
The Roles of lncRNAs in Hepatic Regulation of Drug Metabolism and Disposition

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are key regulatory molecules in many biological processes, including liver physiology and diseases. HNF1A-AS1 and HNF4A-AS1 are two important lncRNAs that are involved in the transcriptional and translational regulation of drug-metabolizing enzymes in the liver through transcription factor networks (HNF1A, HNF4A, PXR), chromatin remodeling, RNA stability, and epitranscriptomic mechanisms (e.g., m6A). The diversity of their transcripts and their dynamic regulation suggest that the modulation of these lncRNAs could be harnessed to tailor drug responses or mitigate toxicity. The current webinar has two speakers to discuss how HNF1A-AS1 and HNF4A-AS1 impact liver physiology and drug metabolism.

Dr. Xiaofei Wang

Dr. Xiaofei Wang

Department of Pharmacology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, China;
Dr. Xiaofei Wang earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Zhengzhou University in 2022. She currently serves as a junior faculty member at the Academy of Medical Sciences of Zhengzhou University, working on Professor Lirong Zhang's research team. Her primary research focuses on pharmacogenomics, epigenetic regulation mechanisms of drug metabolism enzymes, and drug-induced liver injury (DILI), with a particular emphasis on the regulatory mechanisms of long non-coding RNAs on cytochrome P450 enzyme expression. Her work aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying interindividual variability in drug responses, and to develop novel strategies for the prevention and control of DILI. She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications.

Ms. Jing Jin

Ms. Jing Jin

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Connecticut, Mansfield, Connecticut, USA;
Jing Jin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, working under the mentorship of Dr. Xiao-bo Zhong. Her research focuses on drug metabolism, pharmacogenomics, and nuclear receptor regulation, with a particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms controlling cytochrome P450 enzyme expression and function. Jing has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences. Her work aims to improve the understanding of interindividual variability in drug response, with potential applications in personalized medicine and safer drug development.
