On Monday 5 July 2021, MDPI and the Journal Nutrients organized their 2nd webinar, entitled "Dietary Patterns, Dietary Behaviour in Children and Adolescents".
The introduction was held by the Chair of the webinar, Prof. Dr. Luis A. Morena from the “Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development” (GENUD) Research Group at the University of Zaragoza in Spain.
The first speaker to quick off this webinar was Dr. Antje Hebestreit from Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology-BIPS GmbH in Germany. She discussed the different determinants of dietary patterns and dietary behaviour in children and adolescents. Over the years, her work has focused on studying the role of dietary intake, dietary behaviour and their determinants in the development of non-communicable diseases, as well as primary prevention strategies for childhood obesity.
Dr. Jess Haines, from the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph in Canada, gave the second talk, presenting the strategies to support food literacy among families. Dr. Haines’s research aims to bridge epidemiologic research on the determinants of health behaviours with the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions to support children’s healthy eating and growth.
The last presentation was held by Prof. Dr. Mai Chin A Paw from the Department of Public and Occupational Health at the Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute in the Netherlands. Prof. Paw continued discussing practical approaches with her talk entitled “Co-Creating Interventions to Improve Energy Balance Behaviours”.
The presentations were followed by a fruitful Q&A and a discussion, moderated by the Chair. The webinar was offered via Zoom and required registration to attend.
