As you can see from the wonderful and wide-ranging corpus of journals supporting this conference, we aim to provide a multidisciplinary forum for researchers around the world to present their cutting-edge public health research. As shown by the main conference topics listed below, we intend to provide contemporary and stimulating presentations and discussions on some of the key public health challenges that we face today and are likely to face into the future. This conference represents a unique opportunity for public health researchers around the world to share their latest research, communicate with each other, solve problems, and suggest alternative options for creating a better future.

In keeping with our public health mission to reduce our carbon footprint and impact positively on planetary health, this will be a purely online conference. This not only helps us move towards meeting our Net Zero target but also enables students and researchers around the world (in the Global South and North) to participate without the costs or concerns over travel.
I am particularly excited to see as many doctoral students and early-career researchers as possible present their work. We all know that some of the most innovative and exciting research starts with doctoral students and then shifts toward early-career researchers testing out novel ideas. Without this, progress can stifle.
We hope you will join us for this critically important international event and lend your voice to a global conversation that will promote health equity for communities worldwide.

Meet Our Chair
School of Society and Culture, Adelaide University, Adelaide, Australia;I am Professor of Public Health Sociology in the School of Society and Culture. I currently lead two ARC Discovery Projects and an NHMRC Ideas project, both of which meld sociological theories and contemporary public health problems. My interdisciplinary research is situated at the intersections of health, medicine, risk, trust, hope and (in)equity, and the theoretical and methodological lenses that we bring to these intersections. My main research interests are around socio-spatial inequities in health and healthcare usage, in addition to lay and professional perceptions, knowledge and understandings of health, healthcare, medicines, risk, hope and trust. In addition, given my experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, I have an interest in research which seeks to utilise the benefits of a pluralistic and multi-disciplinary bricolage approach to understanding how to support and improve human flourishing.

Meet Our Speaker
School of Public Health, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, USA;Institute for Women’s Health, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, USA;Monica Swahn, Ph.D., was named dean of the VCU School of Public Health in July 2025. She also serves as director of Global Women's Health for the VCU Institute for Women's Health and holds the Charles W. and Evelyn F. Thomas Endowed Professorship of Epidemiology. Globally recognized in the public health arena, her research has focused on youth health-risk behaviors and alcohol’s role in violence, injuries and HIV. Swahn has presented her research at the United Nations Development Program, the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization. In addition, she serves as a Fulbright Scholar in the sub-Saharan HIV program at Makerere University in Uganda. Prior to academia, she spent nearly a decade at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Throughout her career, Swahn has received numerous accolades, including the Sheth Distinguished Faculty Award for International Achievement in 2019 at Georgia State University. She has held multiple leadership roles, including associate vice president for research at Georgia State University and associate dean for research for the university’s College of Health and Human Sciences. Swahn was also Dean of the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services at Kennesaw State University. Swahn is a three-time alumna of the University of Pittsburgh, having earned her Ph.D. and M.P.H. in epidemiology as well as her B.S. in psychology.
