Global challenges such as species loss, habitat degradation, pollution, invasive alien species, and climate change are fundamentally transforming ecosystems, from remote wilderness areas to the world's most densely populated cities. The concept of "One Health, One World (OHOW)," first articulated in the Manhattan Principles (2004), has since been widely recognized as an integrated framework linking human health, animal health, environmental sustainability, and urban safety. Building on this vision, the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), The University of Tokyo, together with the Regional Network Office for Urban Safety (RNUS) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), has organized the International Symposium on OHOW annually in Asian cities since 2022. The 5th OHOW symposium (OHOW2026) will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, jointly organized by IIS, The University of Tokyo, and VNU University of Science, Hanoi, Vietnam. OHOW2026 will further expand OHOW themes to include Climate Change and Green Recovery, International Health Research in Asia, Infrastructure Management and Sustainable Built Environment, Urban Safety and Disaster Mitigation, Remote Sensing and GIS, and other interdisciplinary topics essential for sustainable and resilient urban development.
