Organics Webinar | Topics in Organic Synthetic Chemistry — Webinar celebrating obtaining our first journal impact factor (IF: 1.4)

I was first contacted in early 2020, in the heaviest of the covid epidemic, with the question of being the editor-in-chief of the new journal Organics, and in the same year the inaugural issue was released. Organics was published henceforth as a quarterly journal.
In 2023, Organics was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1) and in 2024, our journal was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), also starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
Now we are happy to announce that the journal Organics reached an important milestone in receiving its first Impact Factor (a very decent 1.4) and a CiteScore (2023) of 2.5. To celebrate this we have this webinar in which three colleagues will present their recent work. Up to now, we published 120 papers in total but we are now expecting many more contributions. Meet Our Speakers
Prof. Dr. Michal Szostak
Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University, USA;
Michal Szostak received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 2009. After postdoctoral stints at Princeton University and University of Manchester, in 2014, he joined the faculty at Rutgers University, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry. His research group developed the concept of acyclic twisted amide bond activation. In 2022, he edited the book “Amide Bond Activation: Concepts and Reactions”. His research group is focused on the development of new synthetic methodology based on transition-metal-catalysis, NHC ligands, inert bond activation, and application to the synthesis of biologically active molecules. He is the author of over 270 publications.
Dr. Nessan Kerrigan
School of Chemical Sciences, Dublin City University, Ireland;
Nessan Kerrigan completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at University College Dublin (1996-2000) under the direction of Professor Declan G. Gilheany. He spent a year in industry working as a process development chemist for Merck before carrying out postdoctoral research at the University of Glasgow (2002-2004) with Professor David J. Procter. He carried out further postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh (2004-2006) with Prof. Scott G. Nelson. He began his independent research career at Oakland University, MI, in 2006. In 2017, he returned to Ireland to take up a position as Assistant Professor in the School of Chemical Sciences at Dublin City University. The Kerrigan group carries out research in synthetic organic chemistry. Most of their work is focused on the development of new efficient methods involving ketenes for the construction of biologically interesting organic molecules.
Prof. Dr. Zbigniew Czarnocki
Laboratory of Natural Products Chemistry, The Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw, Poland;
Zbigniew Czarnocki obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Warsaw in 1983 and shortly thereafter completed postdoctoral fellowships at McMaster University (Canada). In 1996 he became the head of the Laboratory of Natural Products Chemistry. Since 2001 he has been a Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw. The subject of interest of his research group is stereoselective synthesis of natural and pharmacologically active compounds, as well as bioorganic chemistry. He has supervised 21 Ph.D. students so far and is the author of over 150 publications.
