Pharmaceutics Webinar |
Innovations in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery

Hello, everyone, and welcome to today’s webinar on “Innovations in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery”.

My name is Morteza Rasoulianboroujeni, and I am the Guest Editor of the Pharmaceutics Special Issue, “Innovations in Nanomedicine and Polymeric Drug Delivery.” It is a pleasure to welcome you to this webinar, which brings together three researchers working at different but highly complementary areas of nanomedicine and advanced drug delivery.

Nanomedicine continues to reshape modern therapeutics by enabling more precise control over drug delivery, biodistribution, targeting, and interactions with biological systems. At the same time, advances in polymer science, lipid nanoparticles, molecular imaging, and immunoengineering are creating new opportunities to address some of the major limitations of conventional therapeutics. This webinar reflects the broad scope of our Special Issue and highlights how engineering principles can be applied across imaging, cancer immunotherapy, and nucleic-acid delivery.

The first presentation focuses on the development of targeted and translatable molecular imaging probes for lung disease, integrating molecular biology, targeted peptides, and in vivo imaging.
Invited Speaker: Dr. Ksenija Bernau
Title Presentation: PEGylated Peptide Delivery for Targeted PET Imaging of Pulmonary Fibrosis

The second presentation will discuss how nanomaterials and immunomodulatory approaches can be used to reshape the tumor microenvironment and enhance antitumor immunity.
Invited Speaker: Dr. Mostafa Yazdi
Title Presentation: Immunoengineering the Tumor Microenvironment

The third presentation examines how the molecular and supramolecular design of lipid nanoparticles controls RNA delivery to specific cell populations.
Invited Speaker: Dr. Marshall Scott Padilla
Title Presentation: From Molecular Synthesis to Supramolecular Structure: Deciphering the Activity of RNA Lipid Nanoparticles

Together, these presentations span targeted molecular imaging, tumor immunoengineering, and lipid nanoparticle design, illustrating the breadth and rapidly evolving nature of nanomedicine and drug delivery.

I would like to sincerely thank our speakers for taking the time to share their work with us, and thank all of you for joining us today. I hope this webinar stimulates discussion, new ideas, and potential collaborations.
