Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Applied Materials (LCPMA), Geomaterials, Energy Efficiency and Environment Team (G3E), Faculty of Sciences Ben M’Sick, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Morocco;
Abderrahman Lamaoui is a Professor at the Faculty of Sciences Ben M’Sick, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Morocco. He received his PhD in 2022 from Hassan II University of Casablanca. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional polymeric materials and composites for analytical and sensing applications. Prior to his current position, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat-RC), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), where he worked on advanced materials for environmental and analytical technologies. Dr. Lamaoui has published 22 publications in high-impact journals (Google Scholar h-index 16) and is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research at the interface of polymer science, materials engineering, and analytical chemistry.
Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Campus de Excelencia Internacional del Mar (CEIMAR), Institute of Research on Electron Microscopy and Materials (IMEYMAT), University of Cádiz, Spain;
José María Palacios-Santander is Full Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Cádiz (Spain) with more than 18 years of teaching experience. His main research interests include composite electrodes, conducting polymers, nanomaterials, electroanalysis, chemometrics, and electrochemical scanning microscopy. He is currently working on molecularly and ion imprinted polymers as well as in the development of a multiparametric platform based on amperometric biosensors and potentiometric sensors for biomedical monitoring.
He received his Ph.D. in 2003 from the University of Cádiz with the PhD Award and the European Doctorate Mention. In 2009 he obtained a ‘José Castillejo’ postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Renato Seeber, at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. He was Secretary of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Faculty of Sciences from 2012 to 2023, and currently he is the head of the research group FQM-249 'Instrumentation and Environmental Sciences' (since 2018) and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science at the same university.
Dr. Palacios-Santander has published 83 papers in prestigious international scientific journals indexed in JCR, 53 papers published from 2019. 55 out of 83 papers belong to 1st quartile and 16 within 1st decile showing high multidisciplinary degree. Most of these papers are based on the development of new electrode materials based on Sonogel-Carbon electrode as transducer, modifying it with conducting polymers and nanomaterials; the electrochemical devices built with them were applied to the electroanalytical determination of biomedical, agrifood or environmental analytes. Other papers are based on the applications of enzyme-based biosensors and biomimetic sensors to quantify emerging pollutants. Besides, other group of papers are focused on the green synthesis of nanomaterials as well as magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers. Some reviews about green nanomaterials and conducting polymers were also published one of them in TrAC journal (2020).
Center for Bioelectronics, Old Dominion University, USA;
Dr. Abdellatif Ait Lahcen is a Research Associate at the Center for Bioelectronics at Old Dominion University (USA), focusing on the development of advanced point-of-care diagnostic technologies. His interdisciplinary research bridges analytical chemistry, materials chemistry, and bioengineering, with emphasis on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), nanostructured electrodes, and flexible electrochemical sensors for therapeutic drug monitoring, biomedical diagnostics, and environmental analysis.
He earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Hassan II University of Casablanca (Morocco) in 2018 and subsequently held research positions at Cornell University, where he worked on soft robotic sensor arrays for cardiac arrhythmia mapping, and at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, contributing to translational biosensing and point-of-care platforms.
Dr. Ait Lahcen has published over 55 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to several book chapters, and holds a U.S. patent. His work garnered more than 2900 citations with an H-index of 31 (Google Scholar, January 2026). He is a recipient of the Elsevier Young Scientist Award (Euroanalysis XX) and actively serves as a reviewer for high-impact journals, with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and mentorship.
