On behalf of the organizing committee and Processes journal, I would like to warmly welcome all distinguished speakers, invited guests, colleagues, and participants to this webinar entitled “Sustainable Biomass Processing: Advances in Value-Added By-Products.”
Biomass continues to serve as a vital resource in advancing sustainable processing, material innovation, and circular bioeconomy strategies across industries. This webinar aims to provide a platform for sharing current research perspectives, processing approaches, and real-world applications that transform biomass into high-value products while addressing sustainability challenges.
We are honored to have with us esteemed speakers from academia who will share their expertise on biomass-based materials, industrial circularity, and engineered solutions that bridge fundamental research with practical implementation. Meet Our Speakers
Dr. Mohd Zuhri Mohamed Yusoff

Advanced Engineering Materials and Composites (AEMC), Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia;
Mohd Zuhri Mohamed Yusoff is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia and currently serves as the Head of the Laboratory of Biocomposite Technology at the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), UPM. He obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Liverpool, UK, and his research interests include composite materials, lightweight sandwich structures, and, more recently, Building Information Modelling (BIM). Dr. Zuhri has led numerous research projects and has published more than 50 works, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. Through his research and leadership, he continues to drive innovation within the department and faculty, with a strong focus on advancing sustainable engineering solutions.
Dr. Arniza Ghazali
School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia;
Arniza Ghazali possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Electrochemistry. After five years studying chemical synthesis, she stepped into the wild to witness industrial pollution affecting the marine ecosystem, and later delved into the science of biomass to understand its properties and derive elements and functional materials to reduce environmental damage from synthetic chemical-based processes and irresponsible downstream practices. Harnessing every industrial residue arising from agro-biomass processing and the byproducts in the Doctoral Study, guided her to the zero-waste principles, analogous to resource circularity, extending to talent circularity, to ensure today’s sustainable practices are pursued by the next generation. Today, she is sharing, Biomass as a Common Industrial Denominator for Circularity Practices Actualisation.
