Welcome to this Religions webinar, entitled Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Religion: Jewish and Christian Perspectives.
This webinar is connected with the Special Issue Theological and Ethical Reflections on Artificial Intelligence, which Rafael Amo Usanos and I are co-editing for Religions.
Artificial intelligence raises questions that go far beyond technological development. It challenges our understanding of human agency, responsibility, moral discernment, human uniqueness, and, ultimately, the meaning of the human person. Religious traditions possess rich anthropological and ethical resources with which to engage these questions.
Today, we have invited three scholars representing Jewish and Christian perspectives. The purpose is not to erase the differences among these traditions, but to explore how each of them understands the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and whether common ethical concerns and values can emerge through interreligious dialogue.
I would like to thank our speakers, the Religions Editorial Office, and all of you for joining us.
