Meet Our Speakers
Prof. Juan Luis de las Rivas
University of Valladolid;
Architect and PhD by the University of Navarra, he is full professor of City Planning and Urban Design in the School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid (Spain), director of its department of urbanism and former director of the Instituto Universitario de Urbanística (https://iuu.uva.es), today he is chair of the IUU_Lab. Visiting professor in the Politecnico di Milano, the University of Texas at Austin, the Iberoamericana University of Puebla –México- and other universities, he is an experienced practitioner and author of a large number of specialized writings, including “Supercities”, with Alfonso Vegara (2016, English version 2020). Some of his works obtained international recognition: in 2002, he wins the 4th European Urban and Regional Planning Award, of European Council of Town Planners (ECTP) for the Valladolid metropolitan area guidelines; mention in the Gubbio International Prize in 2003 and Special Mention in the 9th European Urban and Regional Planning Awards, ECTP 2011-2012.

- 01/04/2024: The next edition of the SUPTM conference will be held in January 2026. Keep an eye on the conference website and the Sciforum website from January/February 2025 as we will begin to announce new information. See you in SUPTM2026!!
- 15/03/2024: SUPTM 2024 conference proceedings are now available in our new section of the website and publication opportunities in special issues of journals supporting the event have been emailed to all conference attendees.
- 10/01/2024: Great success of this 2nd edition of SUPTM! 127 abstract proposals submitted, 83 papers accepted for presentation and 228 scholars, researchers and professionals from 30 different countries registered! Stay tuned because very soon we will announce relevant news!
- 31/11/2023: Last News! Prof. Juan Luis de Las Rivas, full professor at the University of Valladolid and Gubbio and ECTP European Urban and Regional Planning award, will be in charge of giving the presentation at the opening ceremony of the conference!
- 11/11/2023: Last News! Prof. Thaddeus Pawlowski, managing director of Columbia University’s Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes will give the presentation at the closing ceremony of the conference!

SUPTM 2024 conference proceedings book with ISBN registration can be found here:
- The whole conference will only held online using a online platform that will give individual access to registered attendees.
- Within this format, two options have been enabled for the presentation of oral presentations: a) live, for which specific time slots will be enabled for Asia, Europe/Africa and America, or b) asynchronous, for which authors with accepted abstracts can upload the video with the presentation of the paper using the Sciforum platform, so that it can be broadcast during the event as if it were live.
- Poster presentations will be displayed on the conference website through an poster gallery application that allows a question/answer interaction between attendees and authors, and will have a specific session at the event in which the conference chairs will summarize the papers presented in this format.
