The Sensors Special Issue “MEMS and NEMS Sensors” webinar is open to all who enjoy conducting any type of research on the topic of innovative schemes for nano- and micro-electro-mechanical and optical systems sensors or are passionate about learning about this exciting and competitive research area. The webinar speakers will present new findings from basic to translational research. Any interesting ideas for topics and speakers are welcome.

Prof. Dr. Eihab Abdel-Rahman

Eihab Abdel-Rahman is a Professor of Systems Design Engineering. His research interests are in the nonlinear dynamics of electromechanical and biomechanical systems, particularly micro- and nano-electronic mechanical system (MEMS/NEMS) sensors, actuators, and energy harvesters, as well as workplace ergonomics.

Professor Mustafa Yavuz completed his PhD studies in materials engineering and applied physics at the University of Wollongong and Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering, NSW, Australia. Dr. Yavuz is the Director of the Nano- and Micro-Systems Lab and Collaborative Graduate Nanotechnology Program at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Yavuz has previously worked as a professor at Tohoku (Japan) and Texas A&M (USA) Universities, and as a principal engineer in the Accelerator Technology Corp., Bryan, Texas, USA.

Professors Abdel-Rahman and Mustafa Yavuz gave a talk on MEMS and NEMS sensors in a webinar arranged by MDPI Sensors as part of the Sensors Special Issue “MEMS and NEMS Sensor Activities”. The webinar discussions were focused on N/MEMS functional material selectivity issues and future trends in N/MEMS sensors in terms of noise, interference and fabrication challenges.
