Non-wood forest products (NWFPs) are of major ecological, economic, and social importance. They are distributed across all regions of the world and, in many areas, represent a primary source of food and income for local communities. From a scientific perspective, NWFPs have been extensively studied with regard to their classification and composition, nutritional content and utilization, as well as their impact on local livelihoods and sustainable development.
Based on these considerations, we believe that a general overview, with a particular focus on mushrooms and forest berries, will be of significant interest to the scientific community and beyond.
