This Webinar is very pleased to host Prof. Takeshi Serizawa and Prof. Yann Molard in the frame of the Topic Issue of Volume 2 of Nanoarchitectonics with Molecular and Materials Science: Materials for Energy, Environment, Bio, and Others.
This topic is a continuation of the previously successful Topic “Nanoarchitectonics with Molecular and Materials Science: Functional Materials for Energy, Environment, Bio and Others”, which closed on 31 December 2022, and in which 29 papers were published.
Nanoarchitectonics was introduced 15 years ago as a new concept that refers to a technology system for arranging nanoscale structural units in a required architecture. The nanoarchitectonics concept couples nanotechnology with diverse research fields, including materials science, supramolecular chemistry, and bio-related sciences, to logically create functional materials from nanoscale units. In addition, given its conceptual generality, it can also be applied to other exciting research fields, including material synthesis, structural fabrications, sensing, catalysts, environmental remediation, energy production and storage, device fabrications, and biological/biomedical treatments. By including this emerging terminology, “nanoarchitectonics”, in paper titles and/or keywords, a reconsideration of these subjects can inspire the discovery of novel insights within interdisciplinary research fields.

Prof. Dr. Takeshi Serizawa
Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Ookayama, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Japan;
He received his Ph.D. degree in biotechnology from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1996 under the supervision of Professor Toshinori Sato, who is now a Professor at Keio University. From 1996 to 2003, he worked as an Assistant and Associate professor with Professor Mitsuru Akashi at Kagoshima University. He moved to the University of Tokyo in 2004 and managed his research group. Since 2011, he has been appointed as a full professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. His current research focuses on sustainable materials production based on bottom-up molecular events/mechanisms in living organisms. He published more than 220 original papers. He is the Section Editor of the Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, the Associate Editor of the Polymer Journal, the Advisory Board of the Journal of Materials Chemistry B, and the Advisory Board of Materials Advances. He is the Executive Director of the Society of Polymer Science, Japan, and the Councilor of the Japanese Society for Biomaterials.
Prof. Dr. Yann Molard

Yann Molard obtained his PhD in 2000 from the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (France) in the field of organic supramolecular chemistry and coordination chemistry. After four years as a post-doctoral fellow in France and the UK, he was appointed as a permanent Lecturer in chemistry at the University of Rennes 1 in September 2005 and joined the solid-state chemistry and material team to develop a new field of research dealing with hybrid organic-inorganic functional nanomaterials. In particular, his research interests have been focused on smart emissive soft materials for energy and health-directed applications. He published more than 125 papers and coordinated several national and international collaborative projects with Romania, Germany, the United States, and Brazil. In 2016, he set up the photophysical measurement platform Caphter from UAR ScanMAT and has been its scientist director since. He was officially promoted to Full Professor in September 2021 and is a fellow of the French Society of Chemistry.
