Prof. Dr. Kuangyu Shi

Prof. Dr. Kuangyu Shi

Department of Nuclear Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland;
Prof. Kuangyu Shi is the Chief Medical Physicist and Head of the Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Translational Theranostics at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. Additionally, he is a senior lecturer at the Computer-aided Medical Procedure, School of Computation, Information & Technology at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. He completed his Master's and PhD at Max Planck Institute for Informatics (2003-2008), Germany. Then he moved to the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Technical University of Munich, for postdoctoral research and worked as subgroup leader from 2012 to 2018. In May 2018, he completed habilitation at the Department of Informatics, Technical University of Munich. His research is centered on advancing artificial intelligence and computational modeling techniques for nuclear medicine imaging, dosimetry, and therapy, aiming to link the outcomes with underlying pathophysiological processes. Additionally, he is dedicated to developing both in vivo and ex vivo experimental methods, pushing the boundaries of microscopic nuclear imaging.

Xiaohong Gao obtained her PhD in Computer Vision at Loughborough University in the UK. After working 4 years as a post-doc researcher at St Mary’s Hospital at Imperial College London and Addenbrooke’s Hospital at Cambridge University, she has worked at Middlesex since 1999 as an academic. Her current research interests lie mainly in the application of machine learning and AI technology to medical applications.

Prof. Xu Qiao

Qiao Xu, Professor in the School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University. In 2004 and 2007, he received the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the School of Mathematics of Shandong University. In August 2010, he obtained a doctorate degree in engineering from Ritsumeikan University in Japan. He also obtained the JSPS Special Researcher qualification in April 2010 for a period of two years. In 2011, he went to Kurt Rossmann Laboratories at the University of Chicago Medical Center to conduct a one-year postdoctoral fellowship. His main research direction is artificial intelligence for medical image pattern recognition and image processing. He has published 42 SCI journal papers as the first author or corresponding author in relevant fields in the past 3 years. He has led one key funding project of JSPS, one project of the National Natural Science Foundation, and eight provincial- and ministerial-level projects. He serves as a reviewer for multiple journals such as Neurocomputing, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, and Physics in Medicine and Biology.
