On Wednesday, 6 October 2021, MDPI and the Journal Universe organized the 1st webinar on Universe, entitled " One Hundred Years of Galaxies and Clusters". Chaired by Dr. Mauro D’Onofrio from the University of Padua, Italy, the webinar was aimed at celebrating one hundred years of discoveries about galaxies.
The four speakers reviewed the main achievements in this field of research across the century from four different perspectives. The first speaker to kick off the webinar was Dr. Mauro D’Onofrio, who presented his research on galaxy structure, morphology, and scaling relations. Dr. Cesare Chiosi followed and showed different galaxy models. Dr. Paola Marziani then reviewed the main discoveries in the nuclei of galaxies and their nuclear activity. Finally, Dr. Ignacio Trujillo showed the latest advances in galaxy imaging. Q&A sessions were conducted after each speaker to answer any questions submitted by live online audience.
The webinar was offered via Zoom, and registration was required for attendance. The full recording can be found below. To stay updated on upcoming Universe webinars organized by MDPI, be sure to sign up for our newsletter by clicking on “Subscribe” at the top of the page.
