On Tuesday, 8 March 2022, MDPI and the Journal Applied Sciences, organised the third webinar on Applied Sciences, titled "Challenges and Opportunities for the Design and Development of Human-Centric Systems Towards Industry 5.0" The Introduction was held by the Chair of this webinar, Prof. Dimitris Mourtzis, a professor at the University of Patras, Greece. His research interests are focused on Manufacturing Systems, Robotic Systems, Automation Virtual and Augmented Reality in Manufacturing and Manufacturing Processes Modelling and Energy Efficiency. The first presentation given was by the chair, entitled "Industry 5.0: Towards Human-Centric Manufacturing".
This presentation was then followed by a presentation by Prof. David Romero, from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. Prof. Romero's research interests include Circular Manufacturing, Service Engineering and Product-Service Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems & Human Systems, Advanced Production Management Systems, and Digital Lean Manufacturing. His presentation was titled "Towards the Resilient Operator 5.0".
The final presentation was given by Prof. Robert Gao, of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. His research interests include signal transduction methods, stochastic modelling, and machine learning for improving the observability of dynamic systems such as manufacturing equipment and processes, with the goal to improve process- and product- quality control. The final presentation was titled "AI-Enhanced Human-Robot Collaborative Assembly".
The presentations were followed by a Q+A and discussion session, moderated by the Chair.
