Welcome from
the chairs

Thermal management is becoming a critical technological challenge in sectors such as information and communication technologies, aerospace and electric mobility, where increasingly high-power densities require more efficient heat removal and transport solutions. ThermoDust, funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101046835), addresses this challenge through the development of a radically new class of high-performance materials for advanced thermal management.

The project aims to combine outstanding heat-transfer capability with the design flexibility offered by additive manufacturing, enabling the production of innovative thermal-management components across a wide range of scales and geometries. Through a multidisciplinary approach integrating materials science, thermal engineering, advanced manufacturing and materials characterisation, ThermoDust investigates novel material concepts capable of overcoming current limitations in heat dissipation and thermal transport.

By establishing new links between material design, processing and thermal performance, ThermoDust seeks to enable more efficient cooling technologies and contribute to reduced energy consumption in applications such as data centres, electronics and electric-vehicle battery systems. Ultimately, the project aims to strengthen European leadership in advanced thermal-management materials and manufacturing technologies, opening opportunities for new products and markets in ICT, aerospace, electric mobility and related high-performance applications.
