Dear Colleague,
The landscape of chronic liver disease management is evolving at the bedside. The keys to this? Unprecedented real-time visualization, uncompromised patient safety, and quantitative precision—all powered by advanced ultrasound. But to harness this full potential, a multi-faceted understanding is essential.
The Livers journal invites you to a definitive webinar that moves beyond theory into actionable, expert-led practice: "The Transformative Role of Advanced Ultrasound: From Focal Lesions to Fibrosis."
Join us for a unique session featuring three distinct masterclasses from Europe's leading authorities. This is your opportunity to integrate cutting-edge techniques into your diagnostic workflow.
Our first deep dive will demystify focal lesion diagnosis. With Dr. Francesco Giangregorio, we will explore "Characterization of Benign and Malignant Focal Liver Lesions With CEUS." He will translate guideline algorithms (LI-RADS, EFSUMB) into practical steps, teaching you how to interpret critical wash-in and wash-out patterns in real time to confidently distinguish between HCC, metastases, hemangiomas, and FNH—reducing unnecessary referrals and biopsies.
Next, we shift from parenchyma to pipeline. Dr. Carla Serra will guide us through "Hepatic Vascular Evaluation With CEUS (Hepatic Artery, Portal Vein and Hepatic Veins)." Discover how CEUS surpasses Doppler in evaluating vessel patency, detecting shunts, and characterizing complex vascular complications like Budd–Chiari syndrome or TIPS dysfunction. This segment is crucial for managing portal hypertension and pre-surgical planning.
Finally, we complement dynamic imaging with tissue quantification. With Dr. Giovanna Ferraioli, a world leader in the field, we will address "Hepatic Fibrosis and Steatosis Evaluation With Elastography." Move beyond guesswork. Learn the latest protocols and evidence for using shear-wave elastography to stage fibrosis and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) to quantify steatosis, creating a powerful, non-invasive "virtual biopsy" for metabolic liver disease.
In this section, you will find the recordings of this webinar to watch, re-watch and share with your colleagues!
This webinar, titled “The Transformative Role of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) in Chronic Liver Disease,” brought together leading experts to discuss how advanced ultrasound techniques are improving the diagnosis and management of liver diseases. The session highlighted the growing role of CEUS and elastography as non-invasive, real-time tools that enhance diagnostic accuracy while improving patient safety. Dr. Francesco Giangregorio opened the webinar with an overview of the characterization of benign and malignant focal liver lesions using CEUS, explaining how dynamic contrast patterns can help to differentiate conditions such as hepatocellular carcinoma, metastases, hemangiomas, and focal nodular hyperplasia. Prof. Carla Serra then presented on hepatic vascular evaluation with CEUS, demonstrating its value in assessing hepatic hemodynamics, vessel patency, and complications related to portal hypertension and vascular disorders. Finally, Prof. Giovanna Ferraioli discussed the role of elastography in evaluating liver fibrosis and steatosis, emphasizing its ability to provide quantitative, non-invasive assessment that can function as a “virtual biopsy.” Together, the presentations illustrated how integrating CEUS and elastography into clinical practice can significantly enhance the diagnostic pathway for patients with chronic liver disease. The webinar concluded with a Q&A session, where participants discussed practical applications of, clinical challenges related to, and future perspectives on ultrasound-based liver assessment.
