Event Chair
School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Dublin City University, Ireland
Assistant Professor at the Dublin city University and a full time researcher at I-Form Advanced manufacturing research Centre. Research topic focuses on Additive Manufacturing by Laser-Powder Bed Fusion and the Laser Surface Modification of metals. Recently moved to act as a design engineer at Nammo Ireland LTD (Spacecraft industry), Dublin, Ireland
Keynote Speakers
Department of Robotics and Production Systems, National University of Science and Technology Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania
Diana Popescu, Full Professor at Politehnica University of Bucharest, specializes in advancing additive manufacturing (AM) technology and evaluating its strengths and limitations. With extensive experience in designing 3D-printed components and conducting mechanical tests (e.g., wear, fatigue, aging, and sterilization), her research spans applications such as customized insoles, footwear, and cushions. As a PhD supervisor, she connects research to real-world applications, including foamed filaments for soft robotics. Recently, she led a national project on 3D-printed points of care for customized hand orthoses, integrating medical and engineering perspectives to enhance comfort and usability.
Dr. Paul Egan is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University and leads the Medicine, Mechanics, and Manufacturing Design (M3D) Lab. The M3D Lab investigates a unique integration of engineering design methods for system modelling, optimization, and experimentation of diverse biomedical systems using computational design and additive manufacturing approaches. Research applications focus on 3D printing for tissue scaffolds, personalized nutrition, prosthetics, and medical devices. Dr. Egan’s engineering design teachings promote mechanical design innovation for positive societal impacts, which aligns with Dr. Egan’s leadership in entrepreneurial activities and medical technology start-ups.
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, Rzeszów University of Technology, Poland
Paweł Turek received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rzeszow University of Technology in 2017. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Manufacturing Techniques and Automation at Rzeszow University of Technology, Poland. His research aim is to increase the accuracy of the reconstruction and manufacturing of anatomical models' geometry. He is also interested in the design of orthopedic devices and implants. He lectures at the University on coordinate metrology, reverse engineering in technical and medical applications, and additive manufacturing
Department of Robotics and Production Systems, National University of Science and Technology Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania
Tudor Alexandru is a lecturer at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, specializing in Industrial Engineering. He holds a PhD in the field, with research focused on evaluating and formalizing power dissipation in embedded systems by employing both finite element thermal analysis and machine learning techniques. His work in modelling thermomechanical processes through coupled finite element analysis has contributed to the development of temperature-dependent material models. These models, supported by experimental methods, have practical applications in 3D and 4D printing as well as in improving the design and functionality of medical devices.
