Welcome Message
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (#WTISD) 2025, held on 17 May, marks 160 years since the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Agency for Digital Technologies. WTISD is celebrated to raise awareness of the potential that the internet and other information and communications technologies (ICTs) have to transform societies and economies. This year’s theme focuses on promoting gender equality in digital spaces to foster the equitable and inclusive use of telecommunications and ICTs. While global internet use is gradually approaching gender parity, significant gaps remain, particularly in developing countries. Bridging the digital divide is essential to ensure the benefits of emerging technologies are accessible to all.
