Jeju Island is South Korea’s largest island and an internationally recognized destination for both tourism and academic exchange. Located off the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula, the island combines a serene natural environment with modern infrastructure, making it an attractive venue for international conferences.
Shaped by its volcanic origins, Jeju features Hallasan Mountain, lava tubes, and dramatic basalt formations, many of which are designated as UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites. These natural assets not only support research in earth sciences, environmental studies, and sustainability, but also offer memorable scenery for visitors.
In recent decades, Jeju has developed into a hub for education, research, and international collaboration while preserving its cultural heritage. The island offers museums, traditional villages, local markets, and distinctive cuisine, including fresh seafood and Jeju’s famous tangerines, providing rich cultural experiences beyond the conference program.
With a modern international airport and efficient local transportation, Jeju Island is highly accessible. Today, it presents a unique setting where scientific exchange, cultural exploration, and natural beauty come together, creating an inspiring experience for conference participants.
Travel maps and visitor information are available on the official Jeju tourism website.
