Belgrade

Venue: Sava Center

The Sava Center is the largest congress, cultural, and business venue in Serbia and one of the most prestigious conference centers in Southeast Europe. Located in New Belgrade, on the banks of the Sava River, it offers modern facilities, excellent accessibility, and a prime location for hosting international scientific and professional events.

Situated just minutes from Belgrade’s city center, the Sava Center is well connected to the airport, major transport routes, and public transportation. The venue is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, cafés, and the popular Ušće district, while many of the city's most notable attractions including Kalemegdan Fortress, Knez Mihailova Street, and the Belgrade Waterfront, are just a short drive away.

Belgrade is a modern and easily accessible European capital with excellent transport connections. Whether you are arriving by plane, train, or bus, reaching the conference venue is straightforward. Below, you will find useful information to help you plan your journey to Sava Centar.
Visitors to Belgrade can take advantage of the city's extensive public transportation network, which is free of charge for all passengers, providing an easy and convenient way to reach the conference venue and explore the city.

By plane:

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) is located approximately 18 km from the city center and 15 km from Sava centar and is well connected to major European and international destinations. For more information about the airport and available flights, please visit the official airport website.

Once you arrive at the airport, you have several options to reach Sava Centar:

By public transport:
Belgrade offers an extensive public transportation network, including buses, trams, and trolleybuses. Public transportation is free of charge for all passengers throughout the city. Bus line 72 connect the airport with the Sava Centar - Station 'Šest kaplara' - 5 min walking distance from venue. Journey times typically range from 25 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

By taxi:
Official taxis are available directly outside the arrivals terminal. We recommend using only licensed taxis or the official airport taxi voucher service. A taxi ride from the airport to Sava Centar typically takes 20–30 minutes and costs approximately RSD 2,500–3,500 (EUR 20–30), depending on traffic.

Alternatively, ride-hailing services such as Yandex Go and CarGo are also available in Belgrade.


By train:

Beograd Centar Railway Station (Prokop) is Belgrade's main railway station, offering domestic and international rail connections.

Once you arrive at the station, you have the following options to reach Sava Centar:

By public transport:
Several bus lines connect Beograd Centar with Sava Centar. As with all public transportation in Belgrade, travel is free of charge.

By taxi:
Licensed taxis are available outside the station. A taxi ride to Sava Centar takes approximately 10–15 minutes and costs around RSD 800–1,200 (EUR 7–10), depending on traffic.


By bus:

Belgrade Main Bus Station (BAS) is located in New Belgrade, approximately 1 km from Sava Centar. The venue can be reached on foot in around 10–15 minutes,

From the bus station, participants may:

  • Take public transportation, which is free of charge, with several bus and tram lines serving the area; or
  • Take a taxi, which typically reaches Sava Centar in 5–10 minutes, costing approximately RSD 700–1,000 (EUR 6–9).
Visa Information

Please note that you must apply for your own visa application. MDPI is not responsible for any visa application. However, MDPI can provide a Visa Support Letter. To be eligible for such a document, the criteria below must be fulfilled.

Visa Support Letter

  • Applicants must have paid for registration and submitted an abstract in order to get a letter of support.

  • Applicants must provide us with a scan of their valid, in-date passport that contains a photo of them.

  • Applicants must provide us with a letter of support from their institution to confirm that they support the delegate attending the meeting.

  • This must be carried out in good time before the meeting; “last minute” requests will not be processed.
