
On Wednesday 11 May 2022. MDPI and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) organized the 3rd webinar in the series titled “Gut Microbiota and Human Health”
The webinar was introduced by the Chair, and first speaker of the webinar, Prof. Peter Konturek, with his presentation titled “Role of Fecal Microbiota Therapy in the Therapy of Gastrointestinal Diseases”. His research focuses on the role of microbiota in gastrointestinal and extraintestinal diseases and fecal microbiota transplantation. He is currently a Professor of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany.
The second presentation was given by Professor Yurdagül Zopf of University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. Her presentation focused on how nutrition affects intestinal microbiota? Prof. Zopf is a pecialist in nutritional medicine and her research interests are celiac disease, cancer cachexia syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, food intolerances and allergies, and microbiome and immunopathogenesis.
The final presenter was Professor Lorenza Putignani, Ospedale Pediatrico IRCCS Bambino Gesù, Roma, Italy. he is the Head of the Human Microbiome Research Unit and of the Microbiomics Unit since 2012 and 2021, respectively. She is responsible for pediatric FMT in Bambino Gesù with the Clinical and Scientific Committee of the Hospital. She’s author of more than 200 publication and books in microbiology and microbiomics fields. Her presentation was titled “Role of Dysbiosis in Children”.
The presentations were followed by a Q&A and a discussion, moderated by the Chair. The webinar was offered via Zoom and required registration to attend.
