Abstract Submission
Q1. Can I submit only an abstract without a full paper?
A1. Yes. You may participate in and present at the conference by submitting only an abstract; a full paper is not required. For participants wishing to extend their work, we also offer opportunities to submit conference proceedings or develop a full paper for publication after the event. For more details, please visit here.
Q2. Is there a fee to submit an abstract?
A2. Abstract submission for IOCAN 2027 is free-of-charge. However, fees apply for registration to formally present your work, participate in the conference live sessions, receive a formal certificate, be eligible for awards, publication opportunities after the conference.
Any abstracts not registered by 22 January 2027 will be withdrawn from the program and conference if registration is not made and completed by at least One author (the covering author). Once an abstract is withdrawn, it can no longer be published in the proceedings or viewed in the conference gallery.
Review and Acceptance
Q3. How long does it take to receive a decision after submitting an abstract?
A3. The official abstract acceptance notification deadline is 20 December 2027. However, we will do our best to notify you of the decision earlier by email.
Q4. Why was I accepted for a poster presentation when I selected an oral presentation?
A4. Oral presentation slots are limited within each session, and the final decision is made by the Scientific Organising Committee. If a submission is not selected for an oral presentation, it may instead be accepted as a poster presentation. Please note that presentation preference (“oral” or “poster”) is taken into account but does not determine acceptance; all abstracts are evaluated primarily on their quality.
Presentation Formats and Uploads
Q5. When and how can I upload my poster or oral presentation slides?
A5. Once an abstract has been accepted, Submitting author, Corresponding author, or Presenting author may upload the poster or oral presentation here. All files must be submitted in PDF format. If the contribution has already been published online, the upload option may no longer be available. In that case, please send your presentation to iocan2027@mdpi.com, and we will upload it on your behalf.
Please upload your file to the Sciforum platform before 8 March 2027.
More information on the template can be found at the Instruction for Authors section.
Q6. Why did I not receive an email informing me of my presentation type?
A6. If your submission was not selected for a live Oral presentation or Flash Poster presentation, you will not receive a separate email notification regarding your presentation type.
However, all accepted submissions are warmly invited to display their work in our online Poster Gallery, which will be displayed on the conference website from the start of the event, where participants can view and comment during the conference. All gallery posters are also fully eligible for the Best Poster Awards (which include 200 CHF and a winner’s certificate).
Registration, Participation and Programme
Q7. When will the conference programme be available, and what is the typical schedule?
A7. The final programme will be confirmed soon after the abstract notification deadline 20 December 2027.
A typical MDPI conference schedule in Central European Time (CET) is as follows:
- Morning Session: 09:00–12:00;
- Afternoon Session: 14:00–17:00.
We will keep you informed by email as further details become available.
Q8. Do I need to register as a presenter?
A8. Presenters do not need to register under a separate “presenter” category; however, all participants, including presenters, must register for the conference in order to access the Abstract Book, presentations, and recordings.
Q9. Are co-authors listed in the programme?
A9. The conference programme lists only presenters. Co-authors are included in the Conference Abstract Book.
Q10. If co-authors wish to view posters and presentations, do they need to register?
A10. Yes. Access to posters and presentations is restricted to registered participants only.
Q11. Are there any discounts available for registration?
A11. Discounts are available for group registrations and countries that qualify for world-bank economy discounts can be found here.
Q12. What are the supported payment methods and credit card types?
A12. Fastest Processing — Credit Card & Online Payment:
To guarantee immediate processing and registration confirmation, we encourage paying online via Credit/Debit Card; VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, China UnionPay, or Alipay+ in EUR, and WeChat Pay in EUR/CHF.
Supported currencies include Swiss francs (CHF), Euros (EUR), US Dollars (USD), Pounds Sterling (GBP), Japanese Yen (JPY) and Canadian Dollars (CAD).
Bank Wire Transfer:
Wire transfers are accepted but require additional bank processing time (typically 3–5 business days). Please ensure that transfer fees are paid by you as the “sender”; do not select “shared” fees or fees paid by the “beneficiary” or “recipient” in order that MDPI receives the full invoiced amount. We prefer to receive payment in CHF, but also accept payments in EUR, USD, GBP, JPY and CAD.
Note: If you do not receive your registration completion email after 5 business days, please contact us at iocan2027@mdpi.com.
Conference Access and Recordings
Q13. How do I access the online conference, and when will the access links be sent?
A13. All registered participants will receive a registration confirmation. Access instructions, including Zoom links for the live sessions, will be sent by email the week before the conference dates 22 March 2027. Please also check your spam or junk folder. If you still have not received the email 3 days before the conference, kindly contact iocan2027@mdpi.com.
Q14. Will the live sessions be recorded, and can I request that my presentation be excluded from the recording?
A14. Yes. The live sessions will be recorded and subsequently made available on the conference webpage. If you would prefer your presentation not to be included in the recording, please inform us in advance.
Q15. I cannot attend the live event, although I have registered. Will I still be able to access the sessions?
A15. Yes. Your registration for the live online event includes access to recordings of talks and poster presentations. The recordings will be available on the conference website after the event.
Certificates
Q16. Will my certificate indicate the type of presentation (e.g., online oral presentation or poster)?
A16. Certificates are issued in the following two categories: attendance certificates and presentation certificates. Poster presentation certificates are awarded to authors whose abstracts have been accepted and posters have been uploaded. Oral presentation certificates are awarded to presenters who deliver their talks during the live conference sessions. All registered participants who attend the live sessions on 22-24 March 2027 will receive a certificate of attendance.
Q17. When will I receive my certificate, and how can I access it?
A17. Certificates of attendance will be made available to registrants who completed their paid registration and attended the live sessions, via their Sciforum profile. To access and download your certificate, please log in to your account at sciforum.net and navigate to “My Certificates” after the conference concludes.
