Welcome from the Chair
Dear Colleagues,
This conference aims to bring together leading surgeons, clinicians, and researchers to discuss the latest advances, challenges, and innovations in surgical practice. This online event provides a dynamic platform for presenting new techniques, sharing clinical experiences, and exploring emerging technologies such as minimally invasive procedures, robotics, digital surgery, and perioperative care. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and global collaboration, the conference seeks to promote evidence-based solutions and improve surgical outcomes across diverse medical fields. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in keynote lectures, scientific presentations, and interactive discussions, contributing to the advancement of modern surgical science.

Prof. Dr. Silviu Albu is a distinguished specialist in otorhinolaryngology and a faculty member at the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca. He has extensive experience in clinical practice, academic teaching, and doctoral supervision, contributing significantly to the advancement of ENT surgery. His research focuses on nasal and sinus pathology, with particular interest in surgical management and postoperative outcomes. Prof. Albu has authored numerous scientific publications and is actively involved in international collaborations and academic development.

Prof. Simone Ferrero is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Genova, Italy, and an internationally recognized expert in gynecological ultrasound, minimally invasive surgery, and endometriosis. His clinical and research activities focus on advanced imaging, fertility-sparing approaches, gynecologic oncology, and laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is actively involved in international educational and scientific initiatives, particularly within ISUOG, where he regularly participates as faculty in international courses and congresses. Prof. Ferrero has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited lectures in the field of gynecology and minimally invasive surgery.

Department of Surgery, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas, Lithuania
Prof. Dr. Žilvinas Dambrauskas is Professor of Surgery and Senior Researcher at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), where he also practices as an abdominal surgeon. He earned his PhD from Heidelberg University, Germany, and completed advanced training at leading international institutions, including the Karolinska Institute and Stanford University Hospital. His research focuses on pancreatic diseases, gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric surgery, and cancer biology. Prof. Dambrauskas has authored numerous scientific publications and serves as an expert for the European Commission and the COST Programme.
Prof. Dr. Vassilios S. Nikolaou
School of Medicine, 2nd Orthopaedic Department, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece
Dr Vasileios (Vassilios) Nikolaou is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in Greece. After completing his undergraduate medical and surgical training, Dr Nikolaou went on to complete postgraduate studies in multiple centers in Sweden, United Kingdom and Canada. His fellowship training include a trauma fellowship in Leeds University (Leeds, UK), an arthroplasty fellowship in McGill University (Montreal Canada), two fellowships in Lower Extremity Adult Reconstruction - Revision arthroplasty in University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada) and a Spine and Scoliosis fellowship in McGill University (Montreal Canada). Vassilios holds a PhD in Orthopaedics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Master of Science in Experimental Surgery, from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He has published more than 130 peer reviewed publications and 17 book chapters in Orthopaedic related books. Also, he has given more than 250 national and international research presentations. He is member of the editorial board in multiple international journals.
Dr. Vishal G. Shelat
Department of General Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore
Dr. Vishal is a specialist hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon with expertise in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery, as well as diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy. He serves as Clinical Educator Lead (Medical) and Director of the Surgical Science Training Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore, and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education. Dr. Vishal has authored over 280 scientific publications and 20 book chapters. He has contributed to international clinical guidelines, serves on editorial boards of leading journals, and holds leadership roles in several professional surgical organizations. His interests extend to healthcare quality, patient safety, surgical ethics, and medical professionalism, and he has received numerous national and international awards recognizing his contributions to surgery, research, education, and healthcare improvement.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Székely
Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary
Dr. Székely is Professor of Anesthesia Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Semmelweis University Budapest, Hungary. Her main research interests include risk stratification and noncardiac factors influencing short and long term outcomes in the field of pediatric and adult cardiac surgery, mechanical cardiac support, transplantation and frailty. She is a team leader in the School of Doctoral Studies. Se has become Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Fellow of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care-Since 2022, she is the President of the European Workshop of Cardiovascular Intensivists. She is actively involved in the Frailty Taskforce of the EACTS. She is an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and the MDPI Biomedicines.
Prof. Dr. Andy Petroianu

Professor Andy Petroianu, MD in 1976 and PhD in Surgery in 1985 at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Currently, is working as Full Professor at the Department of Surgery of the School of Medicine in the Federal University of Minas Gerais and is the Head of the Service of General Surgery at the Santa Casa Hospital in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is the Coordinator of the Medicine Unit of the National Council of Science and Technology in Brazil, and Member of the Surgery Sector of the National Post-graduate Council in Brazil, Member of Medicine Sector of the Foundation for Assistance to Research of Minas Gerais State. His research has included studies on spleen anatomy and functions, conservative surgeries on spleen, healing procedures, organ transplantations, digestive motility, oncologic surgeries, etc. He has received 112 awards and honors, such as Best Surgeon, Best Researcher, Honor Citizen of Belo Horizonte city, Best research according to the National Academy of Medicine, Outstanding researcher by the Academy of Medicine of Minas Gerais, 19 Best research according to the Brazilian College of Surgeons, etc. He is author of 514 research articles, 25 books, 169 book chapters and more than 3000 presentations in Medical and Research Meetings.

Dr. Triantafyllou completed her surgical training at Hippocration General Hospital of Athens and pursued advanced fellowship training in Upper GI Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, NHS Lothian, UK. During her residency, she undertook visiting fellowships at leading international centers, including the Cancer Institute Hospital in Tokyo, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. She holds a PhD from the University of Athens, focusing on the intraoperative use of manometry in esophageal achalasia, and an MSc in Surgical Oncology. Her clinical and research interests include esophageal and gastric surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, surgical oncology, and perioperative optimization. Dr. Triantafyllou is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education and serves as a trainer in the University of Athens postgraduate program on Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgical Advances. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and contributes to several international collaborative research initiatives in upper gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology.

IOCMD 2026 will accept abstracts only. The accepted abstracts will be available online on Sciforum.net during and after the conference.

An abstract acceptance email only confirms that your abstract has been accepted. Oral or poster presentation invitations are determined separately by the conference chairs, and you will receive an additional email with the presentation result.

Abstract Requirements
1. Types of Submissions
- Accepted: Original research abstracts; systematic reviews or meta-analyses abstracts (must comply with PRISMA 2020).
- Not accepted: Narrative, scoping, comparative, perspective, opinion, or essay-style reviews.
2. Content Requirements
- Length: 200-300 words.
- Structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
- Language: Clear, publication-ready English.
- Originality: Must be original and unpublished; previously published abstracts will not be considered.
3. Authorship
- The submitting author must ensure all co-authors approve the content.
- Authors may submit multiple abstracts, but only one abstract per author may be selected for an oral presentation.
1. Each abstract must designate one presenter. To change the presenter, please contact us after you receive the oral/poster presentation invitation.
2. Only live presentations are accepted.
3. Presenters who do not attend the live session will not be eligible for awards or presentation certificates.
The slot for the oral presentation is 15 mins. We advise that your presentation lasts for a maximum of 12 mins, leaving at least 3 mins for the Q&A session.
Authors are encouraged to prepare presentations using PowerPoint or equivalent software for online display alongside their abstract. If provided, slides will be presented directly on the conference website via the Sciforum.net slide viewer and should be prepared in the same format as a traditional conference presentation of research results. All slides must be converted to PDF format prior to submission to ensure accurate online display.
Each presentation should:
- Communicate the research question or objective, methodology, key results, and scientific novelty;
- Use a clear and logical structure, typically Introduction-Methods-Results&Discussion structure (IMRaD) or a field-appropriate alternative;
- Emphasize the relevance of the work;
- Support key findings with clear figures or tables where appropriate;
- Conclude with a critical interpretation of the results and their impact.
Posters should be designed to allow independent understanding of the research and clearly present the essential elements of the study.
Each poster should include:
- Title, authors, affiliations, and contact details (clearly displayed at the top);
- Brief introduction outlining the research objective;
- Concise methodology summary;
- Main results, supported by clear, well-labeled figures or tables where appropriate;
- Short conclusion summarizing key findings and their relevance.

Any request concerning abstract or proceedings paper withdrawal should be communicated to the Conference Organizing Team as early as possible, preferably prior to final acceptance and confirmation of the conference program. Please note that once abstracts are published in the Conference Report or once Proceedings papers are published in the Proceedings journal and assigned a DOI, they become part of the permanent scholarly record and cannot be fully removed.
AI Policy
The responsible use of generative AI tools in the preparation of abstracts, posters, and presentations is permitted; however, any such use must be clearly disclosed, specifying the tool employed and its role. Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their work.
Potential Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the integrity, interpretation, or presentation of their work. Failure to provide accurate disclosures may result in the removal of the abstract from the conference program and associated publications.
If there is no conflict, please state "The authors declare no conflicts of interest." This should be conveyed in a separate "Conflict of Interest" statement preceding the "Acknowledgments" and "References" sections at the end of the manuscript. Any financial support for the study must be fully disclosed in the "Acknowledgments" section.

2. Proceeding Paper Publication
Authors of accepted abstracts are highly encouraged to submit an extended proceeding paper (ideally 4–8 pages in length) for the conference's dedicated proceedings volume in the Medical Sciences Forum (ISSN: 2673-9992) for free, please submit it after the conference.
