Prof. Dr. Gabriele Cervino

Prof. Gabriele Cervino graduated in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics from the University of Messina in 2005, with an experimental thesis on enamel–dentin adhesive systems. In 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. in Implant-Prosthetic Technologies in Dentistry from the same University. He is also a Specialist in Oral Surgery. He is currently affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Dental Sciences and Morphofunctional Imaging at the University of Messina, Italy, where he is involved in teaching, clinical activity, and research in the fields of prosthodontics, implant dentistry, dental materials, oral surgery, and digital dentistry. His scientific activity focuses on implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation, biomechanical complications, dental biomaterials, adhesive dentistry, finite element analysis, and innovative digital workflows in dentistry. He has authored numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for several journals in the dental and biomedical fields.

Prof. Dr. Roberto Sorrentino

Roberto Sorrentino graduated with honors in Dentistry in 2002 at the University Federico II of Naples. He has a Master of Science and Ph.D. in “Dental materials and their clinical applications” from the University of Siena (2004--2006). An Associate Professor of Prosthodontics and Digital Dentistry at the University Federico II of Naples and qualifying as a Full Professor in 2017, he lectures at several national and international Postgraduate and Master's Courses at different universities. He is a researcher, speaker, expert, and consultant for national and international dental companies, the author of more than 150 publications in national and international peer-reviewed scientific journals, and co-author of chapters of books on Prosthodontics, as well as a reviewer of more than 30 international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Past President of the Membership and Recruitment Committee of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). Member of the Italian Society of Prosthodontics and Oral Rehabilitation (SIPRO). Member of the Academy of Dental Materials (ADM) and of the Italian Society of Dentistry and Maxillo-Facial Surgery (SIOCMF). Past Secretary of the Italian Society of Prosthetic Dentistry and Implant Prosthodontics (SIOPI). Member of the Restorative Advisory Board of GC Dental. The winner of national and international prizes for research and clinical activity, he is the co-founder of the dental blog and community, Zerodonto.

Dr. Joao Paulo Mendes Tribst

Dr. João Paulo Mendes Tribst is a dentist and researcher specializing in restorative dentistry, dental prosthesis, and biomechanics. He earned his DDS, MSc, and PhD at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP, Brazil), including a research period at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). Currently, he is a faculty member at ACTA (University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), focusing on dental materials, implant-supported restorations, and finite element analysis applied to oral biomechanics. His research contributes to advancing the longevity, safety, and performance of prosthetic and restorative treatments, with numerous international publications in the fields of prosthodontics, dental materials, and oral rehabilitation.


Prof. Dr. Giuseppina Gini

Giuseppina GINI received a 'Laurea' degree in Physics from the Milan State University in 1972. Between 1972 and 1976 she specialized in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Politecnico di Milano, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. From 1976 to 1978 she was Visiting Scholar and Research Assistant at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Stanford University, California, USA. From 1978 to 1987 she held an Assistant Professor position at Politecnico di Milano together with various appointments as Research Fellow at Stanford University, Computer Science Department and NMR Laboratory, and SRI International. Since 1987 she is an Associate Professor of Robotics at the Department of Electronics and Information, Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Among other professional services, she served as the Program Co-chair for the Video-Conference on Robotics (March 2000) between Microsystems Technology Laboratories of MIT (Boston), Politecnico di Milano, and Padova University; for the AI&Math special session on Knowledge Exploration in Predictive Toxicology, January 2000; for the AAAI Spring Symposium on Predictive Toxicology (Stanford 1999), and for the IFIP Symposium on Robotics, Como, 1986. She was a Program committee member for various Conferences. She is in the Editorial board of KES Journal. She is a reviewer for ACM Computing Reviews, IEEE Trans on Robotics, Int. Journal of Production Research, J of approximate reasonong, Int. Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, as well as various AI and Robotics Journals and Conferences. Since 1985, she is and has been director of more than 30 International and National Research Projects (from NATO and EU), and coordinator of one of them devoted to the development of new methods in predictive toxicology. She was a National Delegate in the Management Committee of the EU COST Action 282 on Knowledge Exploration in Science and Technology.
Prof. Dr. Peter Kyberd Kyberd

Peter Kyberd received his Ph.D. from Southampton University, Southampton, UK. He studied the control of a multifunction prosthetic hand, and included creating the first ever microprocessor controlled prosthetic limb to be worn by a user in the field. His PhD hand is currently on display in the London Science Museum, Engineers Gallery. Throughout the 1990s, he worked at the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre, (Oxford University) where he was part of a verity of orthopaedic projects including two projects funded by the European Union, investigating aspects of the design and control of prosthetic arms. The team fitted the first prosthetic limb to be controlled by a local area network, which was then clinically applied in 1998. The successor to this design continues to be in use today. Other projects included measuring micromovement of hip and knee arthroplasties using stereo photogrammetry, the healing of fractures, study of distraction osteogenesis and the recovery from Anterior Cruciate Ligament rupture. From 2000, he was a Lecturer at the Cybernetics Department of Reading University in the U.K. where he was part of a team that performed the first implant of a bi-directional nerve sensor on a healthy human being. In 2003, he took up a prestigious Canada Research Chair in Rehabilitation Cybernetics at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, New Brunswick, Canada, one of the top centres for prosthetics research in north America. There he conducted research in the clinical application of intelligent prosthetic arms and was part of the Upper Limb Prosthetics Outcome Measures Group (ULPOM), promoting the use of validated and standardised tools of prosthetic assessment. In 2015 he returned to the UK and has headed engineering schools (including Greenwich and Derby Universities). He has chaired three MEC, (Myoelectric Controls Symposium) and three TIPS, (Trent International Prosthetics Symposium) conferences. The latter is the only international conferences based exclusively on the clinical application of upper limb prostheses.

Dr. Jeroen Bergmann studied at London, Amsterdam, Glasgow and Oxford, and holds or has held (visiting) teaching and/or research positions at some of the top institutions including King’s College London, Imperial College London, University of Oxford, MIT and Harvard. He is co-founder of a RegTech platform company which guides users through the European regulations for medical devices. Throughout his tenure, Jeroen has authored numerous publications, shedding light on the intricate challenges and opportunities within the field of medical device design, validation, and regulatory compliance. His multidisciplinary approach merges engineering principles with medical knowledge, contributing to the creation of cutting-edge solutions that address under-served healthcare needs.
