I would like to welcome you to the “Advanced Magnetoelectric Nanocomposites and Their Applications” webinar. This webinar will cover presentations on different types of mechanisms and materials whose magnetic properties can be largely tuned with an applied voltage (an effect commonly referred to as “converse magnetoelectricity”). This includes voltage-induced changes of coercivity (for energy-efficient magnetic actuation), changes of the saturation magnetization (including transitions from fully non-magnetic to magnetic states) and changes of effective magnetic anisotropy. These mechanisms include electrostatic surface charging (which can be quite prominent in nanoporous alloys and semiconductors) as well as magneto-ionics (i.e., voltage-driven ion motion in transition metal oxides, nitrides, and other types of materials). The potential applications and challenges on this topic will be also covered, with prospects towards new future developments.
