Welcome from the Chairs
Dear Biosensors Community,
It is our pleasure to invite you to join the 5th International Electronic Conference on Biosensors (IECB 2025), which will be hosted online from 26 to 28 May 2025.
The aim of this online conference is to gather esteemed experts from around the world who are currently working in the field of biosensors and to provide an online forum for sharing and exchanging knowledge. Highly experienced researchers will be invited to share their important advancements in the field.
Particular attention will also be given to young scientists approaching the world of biosensors in order to stimulate their participation in discussions on the topic.
Throughout the event we aim to cover—among others—the following topics:

Event Chairs
Department of Chemistry “Ugo Schiff”, University of Florence, Italy
Prof. Giovanna Marrazza is a full professor in Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry “Ugo Schiff” of the University of Florence, Italy. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Biosensors, an open access journal devoted to studies related to the science and technology of biosensors and biosensing. She was the President of the Course of Study in Chemistry Degree, at this University (2017 – 2021). She was a visiting professor at University of Cranfield (UK) (2010-2014). She is a distinguished Visiting Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy "Iuliu Haţieganu" University of Medicine and & Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca (Romania) from since 2017. She is a member of the steering board of Italian Sensors and Microsystems Group (2017 - at present). She is member of Italian Sensor Group, Italian Chemistry Society (2010-at present). She was coordinator of Coordinator of Italian Sensor Group, Italian Chemistry Society (2016 -2018). Her teaching activity is in Analytical Chemistry Courses for graduate and under graduate students in Chemistry (2001- at present). Her research is focused on new biosensing principles containing nanomaterials and modified interfaces with nucleic acids, enzymes, antibodies, bacteria, and molecular imprinted polymers. She is an expert in the design of procedures suitable for biosensor devices such as microflow systems, thick-film technology, and nanodispensing technologies. She participated in several national and international projects. She is currently a unit leader in national and international projects.
Tombelli, Sara is research director at the Institute of Applied Physics (IFAC-CNR) in Florence, Italy. Her research activity is focused on analytical chemistry, biosensor development and optical sensing platform design and development for clinical applications. She has also experience in intracellular nanosensors. On the above topics she has contributed more than 140 publications on international refereed journals, books and conference proceedings (H-index=40, Scopus). She participated in several European Projects (Nanodem, Hemospec, Careman, Gapogrowth) and in other national and international projects. She is research unit scientific leader in several national projects. She has been reviewer and monitor for the evaluation of international projects in the frame of the European Community research programs. She received the National Scientific Habilitation (ASN) as full professor in Analytical Chemistry (Italian Ministry for Research).

Registration
The registration for IECB 2025 will be free of charge! The registration includes attendance to all conference sessions.
If you are registering several people under the same registration, please do not use the same email address for each person, but their individual university email addresses. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note that the submission and registration are two separate parts. Only scholars who registered can receive a link to access the conference live streaming. The deadline for registration is 21 May 2025.
Instructions for Authors
IECB 2025 will accept abstracts only. The accepted abstracts will be available online on Sciforum.net during and after the conference.
1. Deadline for abstract submission: 20 January 2025.
2. Announcement of oral and poster abstract results: 24 February 2025. You will be notified of the acceptance of an oral/poster presentation in a separate email.
1. The structure abstract should include the introduction, methods, results, and conclusions sections of about 200–300 words in length.
2.All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear, publication-ready English with accurate grammar and spelling.
3. You may submit multiple abstracts (no more than three). However, only one abstract will be selected for oral presentation.

3. All co-authors are strongly encouraged to register for IECB 2025.

Participants in this conference are cordially invited to contribute a full manuscript to the conference's Special Issue, published in Biosensors (ISSN 2079-6374, Impact Factor 5.2), with a 20% discount on the publication fee. Details of the special issue will be announced here later. All submitted papers will undergo MDPI’s standard peer-review procedure. The abstracts should be cited and noted on the first page of the paper.
Please note if you have IOAP /association discounts, conference discounts will be combined with IOAP/association discounts. Conference discounts cannot be combined with reviewer vouchers.

Number of Awards Available: 4
The Best Oral Presentation Award is given to the paper judged to make the most significant oral contribution to the conference.
The Best Poster Award is given to the submission judged to make the most significant and interesting poster for the conference.
There will be four winners selected for this award. The winner will receive a certificate and 200 CHF each.
