It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 1st International Online Conference on Separations (IOCS 2025), organized by MDPI. This inaugural gathering brings together researchers, professionals, and industry experts from around the world to explore the latest advancements in the dynamic field of separation science. Our virtual platform enables global accessibility and encourages the sharing of insights, techniques, and innovations that drive progress across various domains of separation science.

The IOCS2025 held during 15-17 October 2025, will explore a diverse range of cutting-edge topics, including extraction, chromatography, green analytical chemistry, sorbents, sample preparation, and industrial applications. With these focus areas, the conference promises to provide a comprehensive overview of the methods and materials that are shaping the future of separation techniques.

Our program is organized into six specialized sessions:

Bio
Prof. Grzegorz Boczkaj (Highly Cited Researcher 2023 (Clarivate), h-index: 53, >10000 citations) is an associate professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology (GdanskTech), Poland. He obtained a PhD (2012, with honors) in chemical technology (chemical engineering) at GdanskTech and a habilitation in same discipline (2017). He is the leader scientist of research group working on new developments in the field of environmental science, separation techniques, chemical engineering as well as analytical chemistry. He was a principal investigator of several research projects (in total above 2,0 mln $). Few projects were dedicated to studies on separation techniques, design and applications of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs), fundamentals and applications of cavitation based processes, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), advanced reduction processes (ARPs). He has published over 200 journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports.

Bio
Donatella Nardiello is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Foggia. She got her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in March 2000 from the University of Basilicata. Between 2001 and 2004, she completed her PhD in Analytical Chemistry, with a thesis focused on amperometric detection of poorly electroactive compounds. During her doctoral studies, she spent a research period at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and, in 2004, at the National Research Center for Environment and Health in Munich, Germany. As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Basilicata, she received funding for young researchers, which supported her work on developing analytical methods based on ion-exchange chromatography and amperometric detection for sugars, amino compounds, and sulfur-containing compounds. Prof. Nardiello regularly serves as a reviewer for leading scientific journals including Journal of Chromatography A, Talanta, and Food Chemistry, and she is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Molecular and Applied Bioanalysis. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles published in international journals, as well as book chapters and conference proceedings. Her research primarily focuses on the development of innovative analytical methods for detecting biologically and nutritionally relevant compounds using chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry.

Registration for IOCS2025 will be free of charge. Event registration provides access to all conference sessions.

If you are registering several people through the same registration, please do not use the same email address for each person, but their individual university email addresses. Thank you for your understanding.

Please note that the submission and registration are two separate processes. Only scholars who have registered can receive a link to access the conference live streaming. The deadline for registration is 10 October 2025.

Procedure for Submission

IOCS2025 will accept abstracts only. The accepted abstracts will be available online on Sciforum.net during and after the conference.

Important Deadline
1. Deadline for abstract submission: 13 July 2025.
2. Abstract acceptance notification: 20 August 2025.

You will be notified of the acceptance of an oral/poster presentation in a separate email.
Abstract Submission
Abstract submissions should be completed online by registering with www.sciforum.net and using the "Submit Abstract" function once logged into the system. No physical template is necessary.

1. The abstract structure should include the introduction, methods, results, and conclusions sections of about 200–300 words in length.
2. All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear, publication-ready English with accurate grammar and spelling.
3. You may submit multiple abstracts. However, only one abstract will be selected for oral presentation.
4. The abstracts submitted to this conference must be original and novel, without prior publication in any journals or it will not be accepted to this conference.

Detailed Requirements:
1. The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the contents of the abstract.
2. Please select only one presenter for each submission. If you would like to change the presenter after submission, please email us accordingly.

Note: We only accept live presentations.
Oral Presentation and Slides Preparation
The slot for the oral presentation is 15 mins. We advise that your presentation lasts for a maximum of 12 mins, leaving at least 3 mins for the Q&A session.

Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the abstract. Slides, if available, will be displayed directly on the website using the proprietary slide viewer at Sciforum.net. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results are presented. Slides should be converted to PDF format prior to submission so that they can be converted for online display.
Poster Presentation
- Should include the title, authors, contact details and main research findings, as well as tables, figures and graphs where necessary.
- Size in pixel: 1080 width x 1536 height–portrait orientation.
- Size in cm: 38,1 width x 54,2 height–portrait orientation.
- Font size: ≥16.

Participants in this conference are cordially invited to contribute a full manuscript to the conference's Special Issue, published in Separations (ISSN: 2297-8739, Impact Factor: 2.5), with a 20% discount on the publication fee.

Please note, if you have IOAP/association discounts, conference discounts will be combined with IOAP/association discounts. Conference discounts cannot be combined with reviewer vouchers. All submitted papers will undergo MDPI’s standard peer-review procedure. The abstracts should be cited and noted on the first page of the paper.

2. Proceeding Paper Publication
All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference report of the 1st International Online Conference on Separations in the Chemistry Proceedings (ISSN: 2673-4583); if you wish to publish an extended proceeding paper (4-8 pages), please submit it to the same journal after the conference.

Authors are asked to disclose that it is a proceeding paper of the IOCS2025 conference paper in their cover letter. Carefully read the rules outlined in the 'Instructions for Authors' on the journal’s website and ensure that your submission adheres to these guidelines.
