Giorgia Simonetti got her PhD in Molecular and Translational medicine in 2012 from University Milano-Bicocca. During her PhD and Post-Doc she worked at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, at The Herbert Irving Cancer Center of Columbia University in New York and at University of Bologna, focusing on B-cell malignancies, B-cell immunology and acute leukemias. Currently, she is the Head of the Translational Hematology Unit at IRST since 2019. Her research group focuses on the integration between multi-omics technologies (including but not limited to genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics) aiming to the improvement of disease classification and risk stratification and the identification of subgroups of acute leukemia patients for the identification and preclinical testing (on 2D and 3D models) of novel therapeutics (through pharmacological tests and genetic engineering). She has been recipient of the Non-Clinical junior research fellowship from European Hematology Association (EHA), the Alma Idea Junior Grant from University of Bologna, and she is currently the PI of a My First AIRC grant and the co-PI of a PNRR project.
