Biography: Attilio Orazi, MD, FRCPath. Tenured Professor of Pathology and Chair of the Department of Pathology at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso, TX, USA (since 2018). Native of Milan, Italy he received his MD summa cum laude from the University of Milan. Completed his postgraduate training in hematology and pathology both in the United Kingdom and Italy at the Istituto Tumori of Milan and University of Pavia. Professor of Pathology (tenured) and Director of Hematopathology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has held similar ranking and appointments first at Columbia University, NYC and later at Weill Cornell Medical College, NYC where he served also as departmental Vice-Chair. He lists > 400 published contributions which include 355 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, 7 books, and 93 book chapter contributions. Google Scholar H index 81 with 41391 second citations. Dr. Orazi has lectured extensively nationally and internationally (25 countries). He is a member of several editorial boards and active with IARC/WHO. His research interests include bone marrow neoplasms with a focus on myeloid neoplasms, particularly myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndromes, myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms, and systemic mastocytosis.

Biography: Antonino Carbone, MD, has held numerous academic and leadership positions, including Professor of Pathological Anatomy with teaching appointments in postgraduate specialization schools at the Universities of Udine, Padua, and Milan. Dr. Carbone served as Scientific Director of the Centro di Riferimento Oncologico (CRO) of Aviano, IRCCS – the Italian National Cancer Institute – and as Director of the Department of Pathology both at CRO Aviano and at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan. He was also a member, in 1996 and 2009, of two working groups of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO), focused on the evaluation of carcinogenic risks to humans from various biological agents. Dr. Carbone is currently President of the Italian Committee for TNM Staging of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and a member of the Scientific Committee of the EORTC Pathobiology Group. He is also an active member of the Fondazione Italiana Linfomi (FIL) and an international member of the American Society of Hematology. He continues to serve as a scientific consultant for CRO Aviano and for the ASFO General Civil Hospital of Pordenone. In addition, as an anatomic pathologist, he is a member of the LILT (Italian League Against Cancer) task force dedicated to oncologic diseases and serves as President of the Pordenone provincial branch of LILT.

Biography: Andrea Bacigalupo has been the Head of Hematology at the San Martino Hospital Genova Italy (1990-2014) , then at Gemelli -Catholic University Rome (2015-2019) and is currently Consultant at Gemelli Hospital in Rome. He has been involved in stem cell transplants since 1976, and has played an active role in the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplants (EBMT) since 1977. He was Secretary of EBMT 1982-1986, chairperson of the SAA WP 1984-1990 and President of EBMT 1998-2002. He has conducted several prospective clinical trials in patients with aplastic anemia and in patients undergoing allogeneic transplants: in particular he has been the principal investigator of several prospective randomized studies in the field of GvHD. His main interests are bone marrow failure, GvHD and related complications. He is a member of several national and international hematology societies. He is Associate Editor of the journal Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (TCT) and has published over 600 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His current H index is 108.

Biography: Anna Sureda is a clinical hematologist internationally recognized for her expertise in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. She currently serves as Head of the Hematology Department at the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) in L’Hospitalet, Barcelona, Spain, and holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Barcelona. Her clinical and research interests focus on the treatment of lymphoid malignancies—particularly Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas—through innovative transplant strategies and immunotherapeutic approaches, including CAR-T cell therapy. She has played a pivotal role in advancing supportive care and the management of transplant-related complications. Anna Sureda has held several prominent leadership positions at both the national and international levels. Most notably, she serves as President of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) until 2026, after being the secretary of the society from 2010 to 2016 and chairing the society’s Lymphoma Working Party between 2004 to 2010.

Biography: Renato Zambello is an Italian hematologist and Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Padua, where he is also affiliated with the Hematology Unit at the Padua University Hospital. His research focuses on chronic lymphoproliferative disorders, particularly large granular lymphocyte leukemia (LGLL), bone marrow failure syndromes, and immune-mediated cytopenias. He is also actively involved in the clinical management and research of multiple myeloma, contributing to studies on novel therapeutic strategies and targeted treatments. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in hematology and has contributed to advancing the understanding of the molecular and immunological mechanisms underlying lymphoid malignancies.
