Welcome from
the chair
Dear colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 3rd International Online Conference on Mineral Science (IOCMS 2026), which will be held online from 10 to 12 March 2026. This event is proudly organized by the MDPI open access journal Minerals (ISSN: 2075-163X; Impact Factor: 2.2; CITESCORE: 4.4) and continues the successful tradition of the previous editions.

The primary goal of IOCMS 2026 is to bring together researchers and professionals from across the globe working in the broad field of mineral sciences—from crystal chemistry to environmental mineralogy, from extreme condition physics to extraterrestrial mineral exploration. We aim to provide a vibrant and inclusive platform for the exchange of cutting-edge research, ideas, and collaborations.

One of the most significant advantages of this fully virtual conference format is the ease of participation—no travel is required, and scholars can join us from anywhere in the world. The event will feature live presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, and a virtual poster gallery, encouraging open dialogue and dynamic interaction among participants.

The conference will be structured around several key thematic sessions, including:
1. Mineral Geochemistry: Environmental Applications and Recent Advances
2. Mineral Systems and Ore Deposits: From Formation to Exploration
3. Nanominerals and Clays: Emerging Applications in Materials Science
4. Minerals in Extreme Environments: From Earth's Depths to Space
5. Mineral Processing and Metallurgical Innovations: From Extraction to Refinement
6. Emerging Frontiers in Mineral Science: Breakthrough Areas and Future Directions

We warmly invite you to submit your abstract and join this exciting global exchange. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the scientific committee and presented on the conference website. Participation is free of charge, and outstanding contributions will be eligible for conference awards. In addition, extended versions of the presented work (4–8 pages) may be published free of charge in the Environmental and Earth Sciences Proceedings, and authors will receive a 20% discount for submitting full-length papers to the Minerals Special Issue.

I look forward to your participation and the engaging discussions that will shape the future of mineral science.

Kind regards,
Prof. Dr. Leonid Dubrovinsky
Bayerisches Geoinstitut, University Bayreuth, Bayreuth, Germany
Chair of IOCMS 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Is it still possible to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation at this time?
No, the abstract submission period closed on 1 December 2025.

Q2. I have been selected for an oral/poster presentation. When will it take place, and how can I join?
You can check the exact schedule on the conference program available on the official website. Within one week before the conference, you will receive multiple reminders with the login link and session details. Please make sure to check your email regularly.

Q3. My abstract was accepted as a poster presentation. How should the Poster Presentation be?
Poster presentations will be conducted online in the “Flash Poster Session” format, which includes a 5-minute live presentation to share your screen and quickly present your poster, without a Q&A session.

Q4. I cannot find the option or link to upload my poster. When and how can I upload it?
Only the submitting author has access to the upload function on Sciforum. If you cannot upload your file, please send it along with your Sciforum ID to iocms2026@mdpi.com.
Please upload your file to the Sciforum platform before the conference begins (before 10 March 2026).

Q5. Will I receive a Certificate of Participation? How and when will the certificates be issued?
Yes. All participants at the event and attendees to the live session are entitled to a certificate after the conference. Certificates will be available for download in the My Certificates section on Sciforum after conference closing 3- 4 workking days, and you will be notified by email once they are ready.

Q6. My abstract has been accepted, but I did not receive a notification for an oral or poster presentation. Can I still present my work?
Due to limited time slots, not all accepted abstracts can be included as oral or poster presentations, which are selected by the scientific committee. However, all accepted abstracts are eligible to upload a poster via your author dashboard. All uploaded posters will be displayed in the Poster Gallery section on the conference website from the start of the event, where participants can view and comment during the conference.
