Florence

The conference will take place in the biomedical campus of University of Florence, Viale G. Morgagni.

Best way to travel here

Florence may be reached directly by plane. The airport has connections with many of the main transport hubs in Europe (Rome, Milan, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich) and a tram service connects the airport to the city centre. By train, it is a 90-minute trip from Rome or Milan where the largest airports in Italy are located. Pisa airport is just one hour from Florence by train and there are many flights into this city too.

The biomedical campus is 15 min by tram (T1) from the main train station which is in the city centre. Florence is a relatively small city (around 300 000 residents) and the public transportation (trams, trains, buses) is efficient and inexpensive.

Accommodation

There are huge numbers of tourists visiting Florence and Tuscany each year, in every season. For this reason, the accommodation should be booked in advance. There is a large number of hotels, B&Bs, Airbnbs or apartments which can be booked online by using booking.com or similar services. The best location to choose would be around the Santa Maria Novella train station or city centre, where the journey to the conference site will take roughly 15 minutes.

1. Tuesday 06 September 2022, for the opening ceremony, 1st session and Welcome cockatil it will be celebrated on Rectorate of University of Florence, Piazza San Marco 4 50121 Florence

How to get to the CDM:

The tramway line is by far the best option. Centro Didattico Morgagni is served by the T1 tram line. From Santa Maria Novella train station you can take the T1 line towards “Careggi-Ospedale” and stop at “Morgagni Università” (frequency every 5 to 10 mins). The ride from the train station to the conference building takes about 20 minutes. It is possible to buy tickets at every stop, using cash or contactless credit cards.
